Fantasy book about searching glass fruits in the world

It's about a female protagonist. She lives in a house with a tree growing through it. She somehow finds out that she is one of the "gatekeepers". She doesn't know the others yet. She has to collect glass fruits or something like that to save the world from destruction. By chance she finds out that she has magical powers and can control plants.

This is the first book in the series. I have no idea how many there are or what it was called. I've only read the first one about 10 years ago. Can anyone help me? I would be very grateful :)
