R27 Team #8 ~ The Wicked Chapter

I will take it for a quick spin and see if it grabs my attention

Date: 5/5/25
Rating: ★★★★
The last of the trilogy.
Cain & Wynter continue their relationship with hot smexyness, which doesn't detract from the story.
Adam sends several Aeons to disrupt life in Devil's Cradle, thinking that the population will turn on the Ancients and then demands the people deliver Wynter to him, with an added bonus of money on offer.
Despite Cain's warning several people give it a go.
Kali, finally tells Wynter what is going on, but she can't tell Cain or the other Ancients, and not even her coven. The coven is still just as crazy, with the sex questions from Hattie & the lying from Xander & Anabel testing her potions on herself.
I really enjoyed this trilogy, and the new world, and I'm sorry its over. Note there is a cute cameo at the end.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For Happy, read a "feel good" book (can be a humorous read, a cozy mystery, etc), "happy" in the title or series, or a smiling character on the cover
* For humorous, read a book from either shelf: GR humorous SOS humor
*For Infatuation, read a book featuring a book boyfriend, written by an author you adore, or featuring a cover you love
* For 'In Death', read a book on the following shelf: GR In Death (yes, this is a nod to all my SOSers who gave me friendly pokes to start this series; for an 'In Death' book to qualify, it must be found on this shelf; if it's a book in the series, but not shelved here, it won't count)

Sunshine Vicram and daughter Aurora (Auri) go home to Del Sol, New Mexico, courtesy of Sunshine's parents entering her in the local Sheriff elections.
On her very first day, all hell breaks loose over Del Sol. The cursed muffins provided by one of Sun's mom's friends, has all the deputies & admin spooked; a car runs into the front of the police station & nearly flattens Sun; a girl is missing; and she's worried about Auri on her first day of school; let alone the Mayor threatening her. Then she sees her kryptonite, Levi Ravinder. Her crush since she was a little kid.
This series has all the trademarks of Ms Jones best known series, Charley Davidson, the quirky side characters, the snarky remarks and cute & gorgeous lead males, the weird side investigations and the fun. Also the quips at the beginning of each chapter.
Really loved this new world. Can't wait to read #2.

Since its a new release, GRs must not have all the versions loaded. The book cover is nice... But the audio cover that loaded on my phone, whoa... ab city!! LOL

Review: RS is the 7th book in the Trinity series, but 24th in the Psy-Changeling universe. This follows Psy outcast Theo as she travels to Russia to investigate one of her grandfather's labs to try and uncover what had been done to her as a child. The good: I'm a little partial to NS' bear shifters, so having StoneWater bear Yakov's story was nice. I also enjoy when the cold Psy have a relationship with a warm and cuddly shifter. Theo's Psy past and dangerous twin adds an element of danger and suspense too. There really wasn't any 'Not so Good' with this one other than zoning out a bit on the adjectives and descriptor dumps... but I was able to re-engage fairly quickly on this one. Listened to the audio version and this narrator is always solid with NS' work.

So glad you liked Sunshine... Just love DJs characters, always fun and entertaining read. Still patiently waiting on Beep's book...

Ready for this week shelf call. Looks like we have lots of opportunities to bingo.

Review: This is Illium's book and bounces across time capturing those moments of Aodhan and Illium, or as Elena refers to them as Bluebell and Sparkle... Illium returns home and Adi and him are solving cases for Raphael and the Tower. They are also committing to each other following centuries of dancing around their feelings, and Illium has been allowing Adi to heal from the horrors he faced under another Archangel. The good: Really enjoyed revisiting the past and what Rafael meant to Illium and Adi. So happy for these two to get their story of their mating and really be together. Liked seeing the other characters and catching up with Raphael's seven. The not so good: Not sure how I feel about the Ascension... I was happy to see that Bluebell remained the same and that Adi grounds him, but sad of what that means of the seven. I was somewhat confused with story jumps from past to present and in between. I listened in audio and the transition from present to past was not very well noted, so I think it might have been easier to grasp by reading the chapter shifts. Overall a good read.

Off to add the H/I stamp request :)

Mind you I don't subscribe to any streaming services, though I have watched the occasional show on a friends service.
We seem to have much more here on free to air than you do over there. Except they are now doing more "original" stuff that they are holding onto.

If we get U, Y or D its a bingo or a bingo race, depending on the letter.

Mr R. is going to be inflicting a race for sure.

Off to add the H/I stamp request :)"
And my copy came today, Saturday, yay. Came back from a Costco run and it was on my doorstep :D

*For Lovers, read a PNR book featuring a couple on the cover, 'love' in the title or series name, or a couple you think make a good couple
* For LGBTQ, read a book from either shelf: GR LGBTQ/SOS LGBTQ

How it fits… couple on the cover

I'm still going with my book ... sigh ... it's taking much longer than I thought it would, but it is good & full of adventure.

Not sure if this is the last in the series, but I hope not. Ms White has left plenty of threads to continue with the Kira & Graydon & Jin story.
Lots of action including kidnappings, space battles, betrayals, courage, long lost friend, battle after battle, crazy niece, heartbreak & love.
We are left with many threads tied loosely but with so much more to explore. And what a humdinger at the end.

Title/Author: The Nightmare in Him by Suzanne Wright
Series: Devil's Cradle #2

How it fits: Found on the SOS UF+R shelf

Review: This is the second book in the Devil's Cradle series and the conflict between the Ancients and Aeons is escalating. The Aeons are insisting that Cain is to turn Wynter over to them or they will shrink their safe haven/virtual prison. And old enemies seem to be coming out of the woodwork. The good: I like Cain & Wynters growing relationship and getting more backstory on the Ancients and SW's worldbuilding. Not so good: the smexy scenes seemed a little excessive and felt a little formula like... Plan to continue with this series.

Title/Author: Primal Mirror by Nalini Singh
Series: Psy-Changeling Trinity #8 / Psy-Changeling #23

Shelf: #13: L ~ Lovers
How it fits: Couple on the Cover

Review: The Psy in Primal Mirror is Auden Scott, the daughter of two high gradient telepaths. She is not a powerful psy, very young, and has been struggling with a fractured brain, or split personality. She creates a refuge on some land at the edge of the newly formed Leopard pack territory, led by alpha Remi. Remi is fascinated by her and her surprising pregnancy. His alpha protective mode is kicked into high gear, as she comes to depend on him and his pack for protection from her own family. The good: I actually liked this book a lot more than the recent books in the series. I like the pairing of a warm hearted shifter and a cold psy that finds the shifter ways healing and protective. The intertwined packs from previous books were nice to also have in this edition. Love Kit and his sister. The not so good: the collapsing of the psy net is always so confusing and twisted. Happy to have a little bit of encouragement in this one for the Psy race. Listened to the audio format, very good.

Glad you liked that one, I read it back in February and really enjoyed it too.
