All in all not a bad month - I was super disappointed in the Darcy Coates book - I was expecting something totally different than what I read as normally this author is known for her stories of hauntings and ghosts but she went in a completely different direction and the story leaned more toward a mystery thriller. Though I do read those kind of books too - I just wasn't happy with this book.
Though the Jennifer McMahon book made up for it all as her book was great. Had the supernatural elements weaved into the story and it was everything that I was hoping it would be. :)

Only one stinker in the bunch. I would say that's a nice month.

John, you are a trooper for trying both the Meditation book and the YA. Your reviews were fair to them both. For some reason i identify with the kids most YAs cover. I had a terrific, not worrisome teenage life, so maybe i'm just identifying with the over-kill of teens.
I have read the Miss Silver story, Grey Mask, which i found appealing but wondered if i'd read any others. I have not. As a pre-Christie writer, though, i found her interesting and liked reading about the era of the1920s.
Those are three vastly different books, John. You are to be commended to your eclectic tastes.

Your description of how Reptile developed into a terrific book was neat to read, Marie.
The one "Disappointed Star" was a touching ending. I know that sounds odd, but i could feel your lack of pleasure with this one. The final comment summed it up perfectly.
Thank you for sharing about each book. It's neat to learn what phenomena you've explored in your reading.

I hope February gets you back on track."
Well Alias, February is still in its early stages. So there's still time for me to have a better reading month.

Thank you for bringing these books to my attention, Bella. I think of the two you mentioned, The It Girl seems the most interesting to me.

Nemesis by Agatha Christie. This book was a follow up to the Caribbean mystery starring Miss Marple. Very good choice of title with what I thought was a double meaning.
A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha. Enjoyable to me since the murder took place in an office. Since I work in an office I really appreciated the idea!
The Body in the Library by Dame Agatha. This was 1 of the earliest of Miss Marple’s stories. More of a 3 star read but still pertinent.
The Mirror Cracked by Ms Christie. Entertaining story that seemed familiar to me since I saw a film of this story that starred Elizabeth Taylor. Very good Marple book.
The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman. This had me in a different direction from mysteries. Very good story told in 2 different times of history.
The Mystery of Mrs Christie by Marie Benedict. Only pretty good 2 1/2 star. I much preferred The Christie Affair

For instance, i thought i knew & remembered A Pocketful of Rye but not set in an office. Oops, some memory. You've planted a bee in my bonnet, re. a revisit to her books. As i was never a fan of Poirot, i wouldn't include his, nor Tommy & Tupence, as i remember theirs well, for some reason.
Onward, i'm not a fan of Benedict's work but it's a way to get one person's interpretation of a famed person. Sorry this one didn't work. You mentioned The Christie Affair--Nina de Gramont, is this the one you liked?
Continued success on your voyage.

"
I've read a few by Benedict and they mostly disappointed me.
Cool idea to read some of her books for the month of January. I know there are some here who are Christie fans.
Are you going to do that same but pick a different author for Feb.?
