Plotholes/Questions

I just finished the book and overall I really enjoyed it but I have a few questions that I was hoping someone could help answer/clarify for me.

1) Were The Liars only visible to Cady during summer seventeen? If so, why did her family never notice her talking to herself or spending so much time by herself during times she was "talking" with the Liars?

2) What was the purpose of the scene with The Liars reading the Bible and lying about the donut shop?

3) If the Liars were hallucinations/ghosts, who built the new tire swing and left Cady the letter?

4) How did Mirren read Taft a bedtime story after Taft called Cady complaining of Cuddledown being haunted?

1 Yes, they were only visible to her. The adults just let her be because they were repeatedly told by doctors not to interfere with her too much as she needed to come to terms with everything herself.

2.I assume one of the parents and the letter may have been a hallucination or perhaps an old one that Cady just found randomly

3 Don't remember it so..

4 Cady most likely read the bedtime story, she just told us it was Mirren because she couldn't accept that she was dead.

In response to number 2) I think the Bible reference was simply them looking towards religion now that they are "moving on." Pretty much it seemed like the author was throwing us a bone. But also the Liars might've been trying to give Cady a clue by lying so obviously about the donut shop.

I don't know. I mean, it's possible Cady didn't speak aloud. It's possible she was just lying bed the whole time. It's incredibly unclear.

I don't even remember the donut scene. Maybe it was a critical view of the Bible, if they were lying while reading it, but again, I don't remember it.

Could have been an adult. Maybe they're not even there.

Maybe Cady really read it. Maybe no one did.

It's probably best not to overthink this. It's a cool concept, but I'm sure there are more things like this. Take it as literally as you will.
