I honestly don't remember much more than that. The kids had to follow certain rules or they would die. Some of them dealt with coming of age stuff so for example the teens were forbidden to have sex. The most distinct one I remember was that they weren't allowed to look up at the sky at a specific time, because then it would be visible that the group of islands was actually in a big dome.

I think the author had a Slavic name, but I am not too sure about that.
I read the book around 2010-2013.

I read it as a kid and because of the coming of age stuff I assume it is YA, but I am not sure.

The kids got abducted separately and then were put on different islands. The kids on each island formed groups and there was a rivalry between the different islands
