Team Challenge: UNO 2025
>
UNO Pre Challenge Chat

I'm not a mod or a captain, but I have done uno primarily from my phone several times. It can sometimes be a little tricky to put info in the tracking spreadsheet from your phone, but if you could log in to a computer once a week or maybe include a note on the registration form that entering into directly to a ss might be difficult for you...I feel like it would probably work(?). I'll let someone more official weigh in though.

If you are using the GR website on your phone through a browser (and can log in to a laptop once a week as Denise suggests) then the challenge would be doable, but if it's through the App only then we don't recommend it.
as it's not only about sheet updates, but communicating with your team regularly in a dedicated thread, getting notifications and findig the right book editions.

OK my Romance rec is Ilona Andrews innkeeper chronicles a slow burn urban fantasy/sci-fi series the romance is over three boo..."
Chiming in on Lorii's rec: I love The Innkeeper series and book 4 is also my favourite. 😊

📕 I have played UNO before and it was so much fun! I took a break from Goodreads for a few years, but then this morning I was thinking about this group and how much I missed playing with y'all. So I created a Goodreads and got myself signed-up. I'm so excited!
📕 Some of my favorite genres are fantasy, classics, literary fiction, and romance, but I read almost everything.
📕 Some of my favorite reads in 2024:

📕 Some of the books I'm looking forward to in 2025:

📕 Last year was my first year of team challenges (UNO and The Amazing Readathon)
📕 I played Uno for April only last year, but I had a great time.
📕 I read about anything other than horror (sorry, perimenopause dreams no good). My usual are historical fiction and sci fi.
📕 Books from 2024

📕 Books you can't wait to read in 2025

📕 I have done many GR team challenges over the years, my first team challenge was WOBBLE with NBRC group in 2016. I've been a little inconsistent with my reading but I was very involved last year and it looks like I'll continue this year.
📕 I've played UNO 3 different times, this will be my 4th.
📕 Fave Genres: Fantasy and YA Fantasy are my go to genres, but I like romance, mystery-thriller, some contemporary fiction, historical fiction, with a sprinkling of non-fiction. I really don't like horror and I mostly avoid paranormal at the moment.
📕 Books from 2024

Literally laughed out loud at your horror comment. 😂

📕 Team Challenge experience: I've done a lot of challenges since my first one in 2018 (Wheelathon 3 in NBRC). I feel like at this point more of my reading is done in a challenge than not.
📕 Have you joined UNO before?: This will be my 7th year joining for UNO, my first was in 2019.
📕 Favorite genres: Romance (suspense, historical, contemporary, & paranormal mostly) as well as mystery thrillers with the occasional sci-fi. I don't read high/epic fantasy or christian fiction but I'm up for trying most other genres.
📕 Books from 2024 you'd recommend: Aside from 1 picture book, I had 12 5 star reads last year and I'd recommend all of them (most are part of series I'd recommend as well).

📕 Books you can't wait to read in 2025: Here are 10 books coming out in 2025 I can't wait to read.

I do all my GR challenges almost exclusively from my phone and don’t have problems but I don’t use the app for many things. I use my internet browser and make sure GR shows me the desktop version and it’s pretty easy. I also have the Google sheets app so that is where I do spreadsheet things. I do normally try to check in on a computer once a week or so in case anything is too difficult. But if you can do the main things like posting in the thread and viewing and adding to the spreadsheet from your phone, normally teammates can help with tricky things, I have gotten lots of tips over the years 😃

My name is Lauri & I saw the UNO sign up email just when I was having the post-holiday blues. So yaaaayyyy!
I’ve participated in at least 7 UNOs. I love me a big group challenge & UNO has to be one of my favs. I’m just about done clearing out all my unfinished Christmas books, so I’m good to go!
Here are some of my best books from 2024:

And many more….

📕 Name: nadine
📕 Team Challenge experience: done a few team challenges, but other than UNO i usually prefer solo reading challenges!
📕 Have you joined UNO before?: this will be my third!
📕 Favourite genres: literary, contemporary, young adult, historical and mystery were my top genres of 2024!
📕 Books from 2024 you'd recommend or books you can't wait to read in 2025: top 10 of 2024 (exc. rereads) were:
The Bullet That Missed
An African History of Africa: From the Dawn of Humanity to Independence
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
Crime and Punishment
Pachinko
For Your Own Good
The Man Who Died Twice
The Thursday Murder Club
Confessions of an Alleged Good Girl
Just Sayin': My Life In Words

I was thinking the other day that this must be my second or third uno, but alas, turns out it’s actually my 5th. A little insane how quickly time passes if you ask me
I have no genre preferences. My uno books tend to lean more towards romance and mystery just because I read them faster than I do other genres, but outside of uno I like reading a bit of everything. It’s always writing over everything for me, so as long as it’s a well written book nothing else really matters, I could read a book about different drying stages of paint and still enjoy it!
Really looking forward to another year of uno with everyone! Any hints on the theme this year? 👀

📕 I play every team challenge I can find
📕 This is my first Uno
📕 MM Romance always, Fantasy, enemies to lovers,

I also don't have any to recommend. :-( I have been reading the previous comments and made a shelf for 2025 recs based off of your posts that I'm excited to dive in to! Happy reading everyone!!! :-)

And this is 45% blue Do Not Disturb
Does the colour cards have to be exactly 50%

In theory yes, books must be over 50% to count for a colour.
If you have a book you think is a certain colour, post to your team thread or ask your captain/co-captain. If your team/Cap/Co-cap agrees you are good to go. If your team or captains aren’t sure they may take it to the Captains Group, where the result is binding.
BUT ...You are NOT REQUIRED to use tineye. It is linked here as it is usually the best place to check if you are unsure.
https://labs.tineye.com/color/
If in doubt, or you don't receive a majority answer, then don't use the book :)

📕 Karen
📕 I started joining team challenges in 2012 when I had a newborn and lots of time sitting and feeding. I had no idea this whole world existed before then. lol. Now every year is split into which reading challenge cycle I am in, and then other books just have to go into the gaps ;)
📕 I started UNO 11 years ago (time flys) as a relaxed social challenge. I still love the randomness and ease of the challenge compared to some of the others I have joined / help create
📕 I read everything but horror and not a lot of Romance. I was surprised to notice in my last GR yearly update that the majority of my books are Fantasy or Mystery/Thriller. So I guess they are my favourites. haha
📕 I'm currently reading the Way of Kings series so pretty keen for Sanderson to finish those so I don't have to wait for them ;) I am a huge fan of TJR so really keen on

📕 I've done a few years of team challenges. I love these activities, though, I've cut back a lot in the last few years and mostly focus on a few favorites.
📕 I started UNO like five or so years ago. I've captained a lot, and also co-captained. This is my favorite game of the year, and I look forward to it every year!

📕 Currently, I'm reading some manga, haha, getting it out of my system before the games start and I have to move back to reading chapter books.

I’m a new member, and this is my first challenge in this group. I’ve played and captained a few team challenges in another group. I mostly read MMRomance.

📕 I love team challenges! I have participated in many of them over the years.
