D&D: The Glory Hunters
Skye - Fairy or Shifter DruidDiane - Shifter or Orc Barbarian
Dee - Elf Ranger
Jessica - Human Wizard
I feel like if I'm going to be a human wizard I need to go the whole nine yards and be a 60 year old with a long grey beard which I sometimes use magic to dye different colours depending on my mood. My name will be Percival Pendragon
Jessica wrote: "I feel like if I'm going to be a human wizard I need to go the whole nine yards and be a 60 year old with a long grey beard which I sometimes use magic to dye different colours depending on my mood..."I love it!!!
Honestly, would be thrilled to be a Shifter Barbarian. Think I have to commit to a particular animal??
That would leave us with:
Skye - Fairy Druid
Diane - Shifter Barbarian
Dee - Elf Ranger
Jessica - Human Wizard (Percival Pendragon)
Sound good??
If that works, I guess we can start looking for books that cover that first challenge?Have we been given any instructions on how to post/track completed challenges?? Imma go look back at the sign up page now.
OOh, there is a link in Message 1 to a fancy Google spreadsheet for us to track our progress, I guess we just need one of us to notify the mod when we are finished our current tasks. Should we designate someone (Jessica!) or let it work out that the last person to update their progress posts the completion??
That would be great, Jessica… you be a Wizard.Diane, a Barbadian is a better fighter than a Monk!(according to my friends)
If you be an Orc Barbarian…and I’ll be the Elf Ranger. Then we have 2 fighters.
I've already selected a druid book.Since tomorrow is a Holiday, I'm coming to work early, so I can work in silence, get it done, and get out to enjoy the rest of the day. I have a 3 month long audit to do, so perfect day to do it. And I can listen to audiobooks. Yay.

Review:
A cute magical holiday adventure. Didn’t feel any strong chemistry, but it was very sweet. Very much like watching a Hallmark romance movie
Diane wrote: "I feel like this challenge won't have quite the sense of urgency the Amazing Race did!"It’s a team paced challenge. I’m going to try doing same pace as TAR.
If we are still here during SH, I know I’ll be doing these tasks at a slower pace 😂
Found me a Ranger book. Should have it finished later tonight. But right now I need to get ready for a new years luncheon with friends.

Loved it.
The world was well set up in this first book, without getting to technical.
Amazing characters. By far the best character hands down is Oberon.

But I also loved the Widow. she cracked me up.
I love that most of the charcters are well formed and endearing.
@Dee please remember to submit your completion on the spreadsheet linked in message 1.We can do completions posts with or withour reviews or skip them all together.
I have now completed both my books.
Ok, I finished both books and filled out the Spreadsheet.I’m ready and raring to go on the next task to start our adventure 😁
@Jessica… Did you enter the wrong finished date for your wizard class? From the Q&A https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Fi wrote: "Can books be started before January 1?"
Donna replied “As long as you finish them after the New Year.”
I do like the thought of posting the completion here in the thread as well as in the spreadsheet, though.
Diane wrote: "I do like the thought of posting the completion here in the thread as well as in the spreadsheet, though."I can go for that! Helps with verification and it helps me be aware of possible books for future tasks.

Review: Wow. The atmosphere is chilling, and creepy at times as Finn looks for his missing twin brother. To know deep down your brother must have been murdered, and by someone you know and maybe loved on that island. It gave me the shivers. Great read.

Jessica, your spreadsheet entry is not a valid finish date 😞From the Q&A https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Darn. Should have waited a day. Very hard to find WIZARD in the title. Maybe I'll ask if she'll accept a Mage character.

I guess Jessica will get to post the first completions now! Can't wait to see where we go next. Do you think we should all come up with names for our characters??
Oh, that sounds like fun. Finding a name. Hmmm 🤔 First I need figure out if my Ranger will be male or female

Review: This book was a strange experience. There were parts that I loved but overall I didn't like it. The explanation to action ratio was way too off to be forgiven. As impressed as I was at the world building, I would rather have had something simple and more of a narrative. When there was action though, I was so in it. At one point when Jason's ribs were being broken I literally stopped being able to breath myself. The Golumn chase was also great.

I think Skye should transform into a wolf, grab it in her mouth and run with it. I could distract the room with an illusion but as soon as anyone interacts with the illusion it will vanish so not sure what to choose.
Options: 1We can go in daylight hours with armed force, demand, take and run with the sack…would need weapons and getaway vehicle.
Option: 2
We break in with stealth and retrieve our sack and exit via getaway vehicle ..
1. We need to know location of the sack. Not valuable enough for a safe, so we suspect it’s behind locked area, cage or cabinet? If so, who has the key?
2. Layout of the bank… did you noticed there is a skylight in the lobby roof ..could be our entry point
2. Routine of the security guard. ..have you noticed the weekend night guard always orders pizza delivery.
Could someone transform into a mouse, sneak into bank to find where the sack is. If a key, where or who has a copy.
I am the shifter, so perhaps should be me?? Can someone cast a sleep spell perhaps? I think we have to go in when it's closed, so someone needs to pick the lock, or open the door somehow, then distract the guard and disable the alarm. We will need to figure out how to get into wherever it's kept. A vault do you think? It needs to be opened, then carried out. Someone (Ranger perhaps) needs to keep a look out for anyone discovering us.
Step 1. What should we look for on the covers for heist materials?? Stethoscope? Lockpicks? Cloaks? Masks? Gloves?
Step 2. What else should we find in books? Someone who picks a lock? Or should we try to find explosives to blow up the safe?
I guess I'm leaning toward the stealth option, but as a Barbarian, I would be happy with smash and grab too.
I’m so frustrated right now. My computer is useless. Took me over an hour to get pages to load enough to post earlier. I tried restarting my computer to help. Now I can’t do anything. I’ve been messing with it for hours. I’m trying a reset now.
I agree. We have to heist.
Idk know anything beyond that. lol.
