Kristie | 5928 comments I finished Somewhere Beyond the Sea Somewhere Beyond the Sea (Cerulean Chronicles, #2) by T.J. Klune today and I thought the book had some wonderful parts. Unfortunately, I found some parts felt a little too preachy. I thought the book really took off in the second half, but some of the ending felt repetitive from the first book.

I listened to the audio and I think that was a mistake. The narrator was overdramatic and it took away from the sentimentality of the story. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I read a physical copy. I ended up giving it 3.5 stars and rounding down due to the audio.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Police procedural / crime novel
9th book in the Erica Foster series
Gripping, emotional, and complex
Well-developed and compelling characters

Kristie | 5928 comments I finished Only the Beautiful by Susan Meissner Only the Beautiful and The House Children by Heidi Daniele The House Children since my last update. I think it was a mistake to read The House Children right after Only the Beautiful. They had some similar themes, but The House Children just seemed a little more juvenile. I stilll enjoyed it, but not nearly as much.

I am now reading The God of the Woods by Liz Moore The God of the Woods.
