I tested a novella for the quarterly challenge and it gave zero points when under 100 pages, so don't think so. The first post in this thread she mentioned in this thread says the points start at 100 and up

The reason I had not been sure about that at first is because one of the quarterly tasks bonuses is "Kindle Single or short novella" - every Kindle Single I have seen is under 100 pages. I'm sure there may be slightly longer ones out there somewhere. I had tracked the singles for a few years wanting to get through a few of them as they are all short stories. I know we could all find a general novella over 100 pages long though, the singles thing threw me off and had me double-check at first.

📚 Standard Challenge Rules are SUSPENDED for this challenge.
This means you have more flexibility in choosing books to fulfill the prompts, including shorter page counts, graphic novels, etc. HOWEVER, be aware that if you use a book in this challenge that doesn't meet the Standard Challenge Rules, you won't be able to use that same book for other group challenges that do require adherence to the Standard Challenge Rules.
Question about duplicating books - for each set of tasks (each constellation/planet), it says you can get the bonus if you do not duplicate any books within that set. Does that mean we can get the bonus if we duplicate books in two different sets?
Example (hypothetical): I don't duplicate any books in SUN, but one of my books from SUN is also used for MOON -- do I still get to claim the "no duplicate" bonus in the SUN section? (And same in MOON if no duplicates exist within that set)

Yes! You wouldn't be able to claim the Entire challenge duplication bonus, but if you are strategic about the other, you can claim the set bonus

Nice! I didn't even scroll to the bottom of the sheet to see the entire challenge bonus :D

Jessica, this was covered earlier, but I'll link to the comment, since I'm sure it's been buried: answer

This challenge is multifaceted. While it offers a competitive individual aspect, you're not obligated to compete with others—you can simply compete with yourself.
You might challenge yourself to read a unique book for each task, avoiding duplications. If that's not feasible for you, consider aiming to duplicate books only outside the sets to claim the bonus. Alternatively, you could focus on Buddy Reads for extra points or trying to earn the multi-challenge bonuses, allowing you to stay competitive with more prolific readers. The beauty of this challenge lies in its flexibility—whatever approach works best for you is perfectly valid!

Obviously. 😄😂🤣
Obviously. 😄😂🤣

I would prefer that you didn't make a habit of doing that, but if you would have done it without the challenge, and it's clearly a book that should be included, then I won't stop you!

Okay, thanks! I usually don't do much with lists, but when I run over a list where I'm like "why isn't X book on there???" I'll add it. I very much question my accuracy when I'm adding books because I'm sure somehow they don't fit lol. I read lesser known books too, so I like repping those authors since it may introduce more readers to them.

Totally valid. :)
Totally valid. :)

1. I just want to confirm that for the TITLE tasks, the word needs to be in the title or series, not in the book.
2. Can the monthly and quarterly challenge bonus points be earned without actually participating in the monthly and quarterly challenge? Maybe just by checking the list? I thought we actually needed to sign up for the monthly & quarterly challenges to get the bonus points, but I just wanted to confirm.
1. yes, title means title, those tasks should specifically say where you can locate it, so if there's one in particular I left accidentally vague, let me know.
2. yes, you have to sign up and participate

Thanks, that what I thought - I think I've seen different interpretations of both so I just want to make sure.

Naturally, I now have a lion cover book in my tbr, because that is how my life goes. 😆

And I recently read a book with "defenestrate" on the first page and was like Now? Now I find a book with that bloody word and can't get credit for it anywhere?? :)

Or those rare times you do a quick grocery trip and didn't have to put in any effort, look like crap, and run into someone you know or someone who wants to talk to you

And I'm sure every woman is familiar with the planned vacation you've been excited for months in advance with friends or family, only to start getting sick or "hormonal" right before

And I don't know whether it is just my family that causes this, but I inevitably get a pimple the day before every family holiday, where pictures to be immortalized and shared for future generations, are taken.

Yep, yep, or a big work social event that happens once a year or if the big bosses come down, this has been known to happen too.

My new book tracker (thank you Ashley!!) has a checkbox I can tick every time I come across defenestrate. 😂
That one is alllllll sonia's fault!

This looks amazing - what a lot of thought and work has been put in. I think it will take a bit of looking at to sort my way through it all!

Lol, do not even put that in the universe! I'm going to Disney World next month lol!!

Teehee, yes, I have that one! Read it as a BOM last year. A good, easy re-read for the task if it's ever needed though 😁

Quick question. With the buddy reads, can you put them in a different month as long as you read them in the month they are for?
For example, can I put The Last House Guest in M for Mercury, as long as I read and participate in the buddy read in January?

Let's talk about "The Sun"! What books are you reading and trying to fit in this section?
I've done a couple, including Still the Sun for Read a book with "SUN" in the book OR series title.
Have you found any books for any of the more challenging tasks, like "Read a book with the word "ULTRAVIOLET" in the text."

The most efficient way I've found is to vote for a book on the list. When you are on a book (you've read or plan to read) page, if you scroll to the bottom, you can see lists that the book is on. If you click the link to show you all of them, there will be a little green check next to lists you've voted on. It's not perfect, but it does help if the book is more obscure or farther down the list than is easily browsable.

I do a lot of pre-planning. Sometimes I change throughout the year, of course. I don't plan to finish the full "Sun" in one go, but of course do in January for the January bonus if possible match-up.
I admit Ultraviolet was harder, did find in a book/series I planned to read in January anyway, Spiked, so lucked out there.

I've got a few more sun books I should be finishing this month, but the rest will have to happen in later months :)
