I liked this one better than the others even though it's equally bleak and unbelievable. It begins exactly where the previous one lets off, after the usual sort of stuff about why we should go read anything else--this one was my favourite of those disclaimers.

I can't really say too much about the three children at the start in case you haven't been keeping up with the books yourself. The blurb tells you all you need to know, although it says too much if you don't want to know anything about the previous misfortunes of the Baudelaire children from wherever you left off reading. Why spoil anything at all?
