Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments Mine was the housemaid/Agggtm since I easily guessed all the twists and turns quite accurately, so that kinda let me down :(
How about you though!?

kileigh♡✧ (kiileiigh) | 11 comments “If He Had Been With Me” & “If Only I Had Told Her” by Laura Nowlin. They were good, but the way they were hyped up, I was expecting to have my heart ripped out and ran over 400 times LOL it was sad, but not unbearable! Still not a bad read, though.

Cassandra 🍁☕️📚 (blondie2611) The Night Circus was boring to me. I thought The God of the Woods by Liz Moore was ok. I felt it was an overhyped thriller.

ˋ°•☆&;josie.ೃ࿐ (readingwithjosie) | 418 comments @krisha yeah Housemaid was such a let down! Also for me, Yellowface was quite an overrated flop

message 5: by Krisha (new)

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments Yes I agree the housemaid really was a let down :(

Laura | 15 comments Cassandra 📚 wrote: "The Night Circus was boring to me. I thought The God of the Woods by Liz Moore was ok. I felt it was an overhyped thriller."

The Night Circus felt like a game tech demo, like cool things happened but somehow none of it felt relevant. I'm stuck halfway.

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments @kileigh I haven't read it but I'm aware about the entire plot of that book from both of their POVs (thanks to my friend). But I was glad I didn't read it bcz after hearing what it was all about, i genuinely felt it's overhyped. It was a sad read? Yes, very. But def not a read that would have me teared up! :)

Cassandra 🍁☕️📚 (blondie2611) @Laura I agree. I felt like nothing happened during the competition. To me the author left a lot unanswered. I don’t think the main characters even knew how to play the game in the first place. I kept seeing a lot of five star reviews and was wondering if I missed something.

Nat_G | 489 comments The midnight library, it wasn't bad, but I feel like it had so much more potential

Elizabeth Sofia | 24 comments The Night Circus and The Book Thief were both disappointments to me.
I tried to enjoy both Janet Evanovich and James Patterson, but don't.

message 13: by Sarah ♡ (new)

Sarah ♡ | 387 comments I tried The Cruel Prince and its sequels, but I really hated them (I stopped reading halfway through the second book), and I still don't understand where all the hype for this series comes from

Muneeb 🇵🇸 (0xmuneeb) | 5 comments None of this is true by Lisa Jewell. I was too close to be in a reading slump (AGAIN) just because of that book. The beginning was good but the last chapters were ambiguous and too predictable. Now I feel raged whenever I think about that book.

message 15: by Krisha (new)

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments @Sarah Same here. I read cruel prince and it indeed is so overhyped. I dnf'ed the second book too and don't know when I'll be resuming, that is if at all I do.

Me too!!!!!

message 17: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Sofia | 24 comments I have tried to read Holly Black, and just can't get past chapter three, regardless of which book I try. I just figured the problem was with me, since everybody on Book Tube raved about her books. Since I am in my senior years, I thought she was better suited to younger audiences.

message 18: by Sarah ♡ (new)

Sarah ♡ | 387 comments @Elizabeth Sofia, I'm a young girl, and trust me, I really really dislike her books... in my opinion, she's not a good writer

message 19: by Krisha (new)

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments @Sarah I agree the writing was so bad I wasn't able to picturise anything in my head during the first half of the cruel prince!

Hannahhh ;) [free palestine] (hannahhhfreepalestine) agggtm, the cruel prince and six of crows. None of them were that bad but they were made out to be the best books when they’re rlly not

message 21: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Sofia | 24 comments Sarah, thank you so much for your post. I am a volunteer/relief library clerk at the small public library in my deep South Texas community. We are in the process of ordering new books, and I will keep in mind that maybe Holly Black's books are uncirculated because her writing is not as appealing as others. Krisha, I thank you as well.

message 22: by jessi (new)

jessi (daydreamsinpastels) | 9 comments The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. Everyone I knew seemed obsessed with it, so I gave it a go. Needless to say, I felt like it was a letdown. Repetitive and unlikeable characters made it difficult for me.

Phrodrick slowed his growing backlog Victory City by Salman Rushdie
Any book by Rushdie is going to get a lot of coverage. For me: This one came down to a very long so what

I am puuuuuushing through it.

message 36: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Kathryn | 1 comments Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and The Silent Patient were both said to be incredible, and I could barely get through either one. The former bored me, and the latter’s portrayal of psychology was just inaccurate.

I was unable to finish The Midnight Library as it bored me so bad. However, I loved his book The Radleys about a vampire family.

message 45: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Sofia | 24 comments I volunteer and am relief library clerk at our small public library. I'm a retired schoolteacher and switchboard operator. The library clerk and I need to weed/withdrawal library books that are no longer circulating to make room for new books.
Since this group consists of awesome readers of all tastes, backgrounds, and ages, I want to know how you feel about Cassandra Clare? Is she still problematic, or has she weathered the storm and is still recommended and popular?
I tried to read her, but was disgusted by some of the content, tropes, and attitudes. Since I'm "mature/old" I know things disgust me that don't upset others

message 46: by Krisha (new)

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments @Unaa i agree with you. Both of those were disappointing!

Tiffany ✨️ Bergamot Book Reviews (bergamotbee) | 1 comments I've had so many books recommended recently that were so bad. The most recent was Glitch. I'm genuinely surprised it has such a devoted following when it hit meh at best

message 49: by FacelessReviews (new)

FacelessReviews | 12 comments FOurth Wing. I thought it would be 5 stars and I gave it 1. I would have given it zero if Goodreads had that option
Fourth Wing

message 50: by Krisha (new)

Krisha (krisha_) | 70 comments Was it that bad!? I've heard only good things about it and how beginner friendly fourth wing is
