Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
The Boring Wheel of Life

Just to make sure, I can read higher than my cap going forward? My cap is 7, but I can read more now that I tackled Ulysses.
And if I find a book that fits one requirement of each of the three mini challenges, can I claim it for all three minis?

And for the minis is it one task only per book. But feel free to let us know if it fits multiples (especially unexpectedly) as we can shuffle them around. :)

I want to get to The Stone Sky which is a #3 soon; possibly not in R2 depending on how things go (baby watch is officially sub 3 weeks) but definitely during the challenge.

I've got #2 in a series I want to read.

Just did a full update/double check to make sure we have everything accounted for going into the end of the round.
For anyone that has met their cap - please continue to ad..."
For future knowledge, where should I be going to look for word requirements? I couldn't find any for Missing Since Monday - hence why I didn't add it.
EDIT: I figured it out. Ignore my question. Now I now for the future. I don't know what I was mistaking it for.

Otherwise I'll pull it down when I can get to my PC tomorrow!

Pulled down. :)

I didn't want to make changes to the SS without prior approval😉 - thanks for the fixes!

Hello Team Sorting Recycling!
Please welcome your new team members Diane and Sanz
Happy Reading :)

Happy Reading :)

I live in Texas and work a corporate job. I prefer to read romance, cozy mysteries and urban fantasy. I'm excited to see I own two of the BOMs, so I will be participating in at least that many.
My email from the mods said any book read in Round 2 may be used, so anything I've finished since 10/26, correct? It is only 1 book as the other one I started I just wasn't feeling.

Yep that's correct. If you request access to the team tracking spreadsheet that's linked HERE you can add your read book and anything you have planned as well. :)

Also how can we check tags on certain books?

From the mini rules:
Bloom:
Read 10 books with colour covers (50%+) to reflect the colours in your flowers.
MUST include 1 brown and 1 green colour.
So they can be any color; as long as they're 50%+ that color. :)

If you want to look at a specific book, on that books page where the genres are listed click "...more" to expand the list on the page and then "...show all" which will take you to a new page titled "[Book Title] > Top Shelves.
If you want to browse a list of books that has a certain tag, go to goodreads.com/shelf/show/[InsertTagHere] ... so, using the thailand tag as an example, goodreads.com/shelf/show/thailand

I'm always excited to do team challenges as I get so much more reading done during these games and of course, get to know other book lovers.
I'll be using this shelf wheel-of-life-2024 for parking my reads for this challenge.

I used to be able to read more when I was younger but now I'm content if I can finish a book a week. Although to be honest, this year I have been in a slump for several weeks at a time, several times!
I'm currently reading A Clash of Kings and I'm sure I can get it to fit in for some mini-challenge task.

Yes! I'm so excited to mark this one as read :)

Yikes! That sounds awfully annoying.

Anna - I added all the books on your shelf to the main spreadsheet and put in any obvious letters I saw from looking at the books page. If you get a moment could you see if there are any letters I'm missing of other characters in the books. :)
Catherine - Could you please double check the edition of A Witch with No Name that you have shelved? Right now you've got a foreign language version with a very different page count. :)
Nichole - Could you please make sure that In the Shadow of Spindrift House is added to your shelf? :)
Thank you my lovelies! Also we're coming up to the middle of our second week of this round, would love to have a big update done by Wednesday to help out the other captains as I'm going to be out of town for the weekend. So, if you have books that you haven't posted yet please get those added so I can have as full of an we're almost there update as possible. You guys are the best.

I went through yesterday and updated everything. So far we have 5 trips through our phrase and are working on our 6th. :) To the best of my ability I tried to fit in any book that didn't have a preplanned spot on our mini challenges into them and for the most part I was successful.
Mini Missing's
Gardening
We're doing really well here. We've got I think 4 books that are already claimed that once finished will complete this mini and we can then restart it. For those of you with claimed books here, targeting them first would be ideal as it's the mini closest to being completed and also one of the easiest to fit books into, so being able to restart it would be great.
Admin
This is the most difficult to fit things into, especially without having read the book as a lot of the tasks are more specific and have to do with office things/murder. Take a glance at the remaining tasks if you get a chance and shout it out if a book you've read will fit. :)
Feeding
We are a yam away from finding all of our food words, but we really have barely touched all of the country designations. If you have a chance peek at the list and your TBR's and see if you have any books that appeal to you from those areas. :)
Also,we have our new phrase for next week starting on Saturday and it's a doozy...

Maybe we could see if any of the easier prompts can be used in the ADMIN/ countries and move around a bit

Happy to move something if one of the books already read fits into one of the harder categories, they're just not ones that I can know without having read the books myself. So if someone recognizes that a book they read would fit one of the other categories just let us know and I'll happily move it.

I currently have a Nigeria and a Jamaica book out on Libby. I have a Bangladesh book on hold that should be within 2 weeks, and a book with a tax accountant that I should get within 3 weeks.
HOWEVER - I'm 8 days away from my due date and, even though today was my last day of work, I'm not making AAANNNYYY promises. So I'll add them to the spreadsheet as I get to them. ;)

Hey Team - I'm working on trying to get the Gardening mini filled out with a little shuffling so we can get it turned in and start working it a second time. If your book has been removed, don't fret. I'm going to cycle anything that was unread into the next iteration!
Also just a reminder that it's 1 task PER book for the mini. I've had to clear out a few duplicates - no big deal but just wanted to remind everyone. :)

The first gardening mini is complete! :) The only down side is that we didn't complete it until 11/7 and since we can't bank books we have a few books we won't be able to attribute to the repeat; so unless we can fit them into admin or feeding they won't get bonus mini points. Not a HUGE deal - but also just wanted to remind everyone that we won't be able to use them.
One of my tricks for finding tricky things is using Google to search instead of Goodreads. For example, if you search using
site:goodreads.com/book/show "tax accountant" fiction
you'll get books where somewhere on the book page it mentions a tax accountant. It's not a perfect system because it could be saying that the author is a tax accountant by day or it will return a non-fiction book or it might be something in a review. So it still takes some research on your part to make sure the book ACTUALLY fits; but it's often a good jumping off point. Likewise you can use
site:goodreads.com/shelf/show "white collar crime" for shelves/genres and
site:goodreads.com/list/show "office romance" for listopias
Again - these take some browsing and some lists might not be applicable, but I definitely find more useful search results this way.
After the "show" part of the Goodreads URL so you search whatever terms here that you like. Here's some examples (when you click through the actual search I used will be in the search bar!) that will help for our open tasks:
A02 - Office Romance
