Laura | 884 comments I have a train book, although there are multiple Agatha Christie books with trains on the cover. Which makes me think of Louise.

I have a Washington state book (Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series is set in Washington). Although if anyone is currently reading through Mercy Thompson, those are set in Washinton.

I have one I can re-listen to where they go to the movies. I don't really know how to search for this one, because searching the text of the books is not necessarily specific to if they are going to a movie theater.

I won't bother to look for Titanic since Berit is asking for it. It's fine with me if you take it, Berit.

Laura | 884 comments Taking a peek at other threads for the Movies task:

Crush
Cold Moon
Rock Paper Scissors
The Shoemaker's Magician
Drive to Thrive
Stolen Heir
The Weight

There is always New Moon, of course! And my audios are Wait for It or Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin or Under Locke.

And this one was excellent! The Star and the Strange Moon

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 187 comments I can do any of them if someone else wants it. We prefer not to have train, and yeah movie is tough.

Louise | 1600 comments Can I grab train please

message 205: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3905 comments Ugh - searching indeed. I do actually have a book set in Washington state on my short list. But I'll take a look for the others too.

message 206: by Laura (new)

Laura | 884 comments LaurLa, take Washington. I always love to re-read my Mariana Zapata books, so I’m good with going to the movies.

message 207: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3905 comments Okay. I did do some train searching. There's the obvious train book - Agatha Christi with Murder on the Orient Express if someone cares to read (or reread) that one.
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

I also have this: Murder on the Flying Scotsman if needed. Not on my short list but doable on Jan 1 ;-)
Murder on the Flying Scotsman (Daisy Dalrymple, #4) by Carola Dunn

[bookcover:Murder..."

There's also a Miss Marple that has a train title. And I bet there's a Nancy Drew with a train on the cover. But Louise asked for train, so I assume she has something up her sleeve.

It looks like we have

Louise - 👻Read a book with a train on the cover

LaurLa - 👻Read a book set in Washington state

Berit - 👻Read a book with all the letters of TITANIC in the title

Laura - 👻Read a book where someone goes to a movie

Dr. Janosz Poha

description

Dr. Janosz Poha is the head of the Restoration department at the Manhattan Museum of Art. Vigo has him under a mind-control spell and is using him as a servant. He can take the form of a red-eyed, spectral nanny with a baby carriage to abduct a baby for Vigo to possess.

Tasks

👻Read a book with someone who is a servant

👻Read a book with a nanny character

👻Read a book with a baby on the cover

👻Read a book with the author's initials in Poha

description

message 219: by Laura (last edited Jan 02, 2025 07:34PM) (new)

Laura | 884 comments I don't have anything planned that fits any of these. So you guys pick and then I'll find something for what's left.

I actually have a POHA author or a nanny character.

message 220: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 187 comments I'd prefer servant, I can do any of the others, but I do not want baby on the cover.

message 221: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3905 comments Ugh - I had a baby LAST month! But, for now I have POHA author for sure. I can probably find a baby on the cover if needed.

message 222: by Laura (last edited Jan 02, 2025 09:21PM) (new)

Laura | 884 comments If Louise doesn't have a baby, I can read A Christmas Caroline by Camilla Isley . Looks like a baby strapped to his chest to me.

But my KU check-outs are full right now, so I'll have to finish at least one book before I get to it. And right now audios are what I'm getting to fastest.

ETA: That's actually the case with my other task options as well. :)

Vigo the Carpathian:

description

Vigo the Carpathian was not well-liked by his people. They poisoned, shot, stabbed, hung, stretched, disemboweled, drawn and quartered him. I guess they wanted to make sure he was dead. Just before he died, he muttered "Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back!" His ghost took up residence in his portrait which was painted long before his death.

Tasks

👻Read a book with a door on the cover

👻Read a book with a hated character (your interpretation)

👻Read a book with a character who is stabbed

👻Read a book with a portrait on the cover

description

message 234: by Laura (new)

Laura | 884 comments I would prefer not to do portrait on cover, but I can do any of the others.

message 235: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 187 comments i'd prefer not to do either of the cover item tasks, but if someone wants to direct me to a book I can do those.

message 236: by Louise (last edited Jan 15, 2025 01:59AM) (new)

Louise | 1600 comments I’m reading Kiss of Death and a vamp has just been stabbed with a pencil 🤣

It also covers hated character

message 237: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3905 comments I asked about portrait in the Q&A because technically a portrait is a picture of a person, so almost any cover with a person on it would count. But I wanted to make sure because Donna may actually be looking for an actual framed picture on the cover... which is a lot harder to find, to be sure!

message 238: by Laura (new)

Laura | 884 comments Books that other teams have used for the portrait task:

Because of Miss Bridgerton (Rokesbys, #1) by Julia Quinn Ingenue (Flappers, #2) by Jillian Larkin All Will Be Revealed by Robert Anthony Siegel

Laura | 884 comments I finished this one today. Anyone think it works for portrait? Shalador's Lady (The Black Jewels, #8) by Anne Bishop

message 240: by Laura (new)

Laura | 884 comments Or I have Pay-Per-Heart by Grace McGinty checked out in KU. So I guess I can do Portrait.

Berit - 👻Read a book with a hated character (your interpretation)

LaurLa, if you would rather have portrait, I can switch to door.

message 243: by LaurLa (last edited Jan 16, 2025 04:44AM) (new)

LaurLa | 3905 comments I can do door. I need to read another book first for White Elephant that doesn't work for either door or portrait, unfortunately, then I'll read for door. So probably this weekend sometime.

Donna hasn't answered but going by what you found, it looks like we maybe need someone who looks like they are posing, so for that, I'd say your second choice.

message 244: by Laura (new)

Laura | 884 comments Sounds good, LaurLa. I would have had to search for a door.
