Yay! I'm glad you liked it. :-) I don't think Harry annoyed me. I just think she was tiny bit repressed (ok, more than a tiny bit).

Either way, this really was a top read of the year for me.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review: Sally Hepworth is a great suspense writer - she gets in your head and emotionally engages you as the reader. The two MCs are non-identical twins and very different in personalities. What they do have in common is they scared a womb, survived an abusive mother and witnessed a horrific event in their childhood, a dark secret that is eating the two of them up. When the married twin wants a baby and can’t, her single twin offers to carry the child - but this is not a time of joy - the story gets dark and riveting very quickly. Was a real page turner - which was the reason I stayed in my air-conditioned lounge room away from the heat reading up a storm

Bookcover/link: Beginning of Forever

Date Finished: 12/7
Rating (1-5): ⭐⭐⭐
This book was okay. I don't know why it took me so long to finish because there wasn't anything inherently bad or slow about the story. It just must not have been the right book for me at the time. I liked the characters and the story - I definitely want to go to Italy now. The twist with Emma's story was a bit predictable and there wasn't much conflict in terms of the relationship. Gio was a little too good to be true, but the book on a whole wasn't bad.

Week #10, Option #1

Review: So...I technically listened to the audiobook version while getting work done. I enjoyed the story up until the ending reveal which kind of fell short since it was so rushed. 75% into the book, the main characters still don't know who the killer is, then suddenly they just figure it out? Still scratching my head over how that came about. Even so, it was overall an enjoyable read. I felt that the author was very respectful in her portrayal of the characters' trauma and exploring the aftermath of the crime(s) and how it affected the lives of everyone involved. The ending had me tearing up a bit.

Week 10
Fugitive Telemetry
Rating : 4 stars
Review: This was a fun short read with a snarky Murderbot. It tries to help solve a murder while the local port authority personnel suspect it. These books are all fun, but I'm always left wishing the author would write a longer book (which I will get for the next in the series). Murderbot is as snarky as ever, which I love.

Week #9, Option #1

Date read: Dec 13
Rating: 3★
Review: This book was a quick read (thankfully) but hovering between fine and meh. It's got the right ingredients for something I'd enjoy (the dark carnival/faire setting, villainous antihero love interest). I was not a fan of the heroine. Her emotions jumped all over the place, going from angry to sulky to scared to angry and snippy...it was exhausting, honestly. The writing was okay though overwritten. Don't understand why this series is five books long but I'm curious enough to check out the next one. Maybe.

Review: This was just ok for me. Even though she was a survival of all the girls and tries to relive what happened to her so it may help figure out what happened to the others. I thought there would be more information to this but even though they have the accused its still a question as to why or they can't believe it.

Book The Witch's Heart

Date Finished: 12/13
Rating (1-5): ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't know a lot of Norse Mythology (aside from what Marvel has done) so this book was really interesting. I found the story fascinating and it made me curious about other tellings of these characters. You definitely felt for Angrboda and had mixed feelings for Loki. It was all captivating.

Book: Say You'll Remember Me

Page count: 416 pages
How it Fits: has a 4.66 rating

Week #11, Option #1

Review: It was okay. About as mindless as I expected. The hero got on my nerves somewhat with his endless inappropriate jokes but he did have a few wisecracking lines. I liked the slow burn feel of the earlier half. The erotica was expected though surprisingly boring. Wished there was some more plot, I guess.

It was fun reading with you all! Happy holidays and hope to see you next time :)

Week 9
Read: 12/5/24
Rated: 4.75 stars
Review: Harriet drove me crazy because she just wouldn’t stop and see that there was more she needed to say. I get she wasn’t raised that way but when you have friends that love you like this and a man who’s a wreck because of the breakup or the split.
Then there’s the whole people are growing up and sometime that means they can in some part grow apart even when it’s not intentional. Family will always be there but you have to let them in and also allow for change as well.
This was such a twisted mess but such a great learning experience for all of them but the grown ups they will be can finally show.
