Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments I think it would be fun to have a yearly challenge with letters in the title/subtitle, like S-L-O-T-H. I’m sort of a dork. lol 😂

Thank you for the recommendations, Dustin! :D

I really want to see The Substance. I’m a little worried it’s going to make me nauseous. Is it very gory and/or gross with regards to the body horror?

Rachel | 3524 comments I mostly listened (although I read some parts) to Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera for Sloth.

There were a few questionable moments but overall I enjoyed it. A large part of the story is told through a podcast so it works especially well on audio.

It is a bit much for some people. Lots of blood, some medical type of body mutilation (needles, cutting, stitching) and grotesque body mutation.

A few SLOTH titles I have completed. More on the way, got to keep up on logging them as read:
A Head Full of Ghosts, The Lost Symbol, The Whole Town's Talking
The Whole Town's Talking (Elmwood Springs, #4) by Fannie Flagg The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3) by Dan Brown A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay

This was my first time reading A Head Full of Ghosts and I won't be re-reading it - similar to Paul Tremblay's newer work, Horror Movie.
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and The Whole Town's Talking by Fannie Flagg are both re-reads, 4 stars for The Lost Symbol and 5 Stars for The Whole Town's Talking.

Two more movie recommendations, films that I watched on Monday at the theater:

Heretic - Hugh Grant abducts two Sister Missionaries from Utah

Small Things Like These - Cillian Murphy in a subdued role, a dark Irish setting, based on the short story by Claire Keegan
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan

Also, at home I'm finishing up Robot Dreams, an animated film adapted from the book by Sara Varon. The book has no words, the film has no dialogue.

Rachel | 3524 comments Finished Words on Bathroom Walls by Julia Walton for Sloth.

Moving story about a teen on an experimental drug to treat
schizophrenia. It will break your heart a little. Recommend.

message 128: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Thanks for the Fall Challenge. I’m almost done with Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. I wanted to finish it for the Fall challenge. I’m finding it very good, very interesting and making me like Trevor Noah even more than I already did.

We were on the road for 6 1/2 weeks, along west coast, visiting friends and family while we wait for our remodel to be done. Still not done but we are close. I’m tired of living out of a suitcase. I never thought I would say that! I thought I would get more reading done but I got a lot of quality time with friends & family. Thanksgiving was great! I hope everyone’s was too!

You’re welcome, Christine! :D
Glad you’re enjoying Born a Crime-it’s especially good on audio.

6 1/2 weeks is a long time to be on the road. Glad you enjoyed the holiday and are getting to see friends and family while you’re waiting for your home to be done. Hope you don’t have to live out of a suitcase for much longer. xo
