SOLVED. Collection of Fairytales with Weird Illustrations 1998

I received this book from a teacher when I was in 5th grade. I was a large book about the length of a text book and thick. The paper inside was thicker non-gloss paper that you would usually find in older books. Each story was illustrated but I believe by different artists. Some of the artwork was very creepy where some witches were as pale and glowing as ghosts. The artwork reminds me of the 60's- 80's art style. Stories included were the Brave little tailor ( he had spectacles in his pictures), a story about a glass mountain, a story about a little girl and boy ( the boy is turned into a fawn by a cursed stream, the girl gets married to the king, but her evil step mother and stepsister who only has one eye suffacate her to death in a hot room and place the sister in her place, but she comes back), there is also a story about a brother and sister running from a witch in the woods the witch is flying on her broom and the little girl throws down a hankerchief and it turns into water and in the end the witch dies in a torns. I'm sorry for carrying on, I cant remember the date of the book or when it was printed and I have been looking for 20 years. I only remember a few of the stories, but if you were to see the illustrations you would remember. Any help is appreciated!

Possibly something by Andrew Lang

He certainly has the Glass mountain, The witch and The brave tailor stories in his books but I'm not sure which book has what stories in at the moment.

Do his books look like they have the right kind of illustrations?

okay I've done some more digging because of your folks suggestions and I found it! It's called "Purnell's Treasury of Enchanted Tales" by Jane Carruth. You folks have helped me solve an over 20 year mystery!
