SOLVED. YA Fantasy series about Unicorns fighting... something. Read around 2005-2010. [s]

Trying to remember a book I read as a kid; had to at least 15 years ago, maybe 2005-2010. I remember almost zero details of it, except that there were three books (I only read the third). It had a similar vibe to warrior cats.

I think the main character was a black unicorn and the leader of the herd? Or at least the chosen one. He had special blood that protected him against [evil force I don't remember]. At one point he used his horn to cut his leg to share his blood with the non-special unicorns.

I also remember he had a son, and there was a female unicorn who I assume was his wife. And towards the end there was a battle with some evil monster??

If you have any idea what I'm on about, please let me know, it's driving me nuts.
