Marielle McDonald (_mariellemcd) | 9 comments I read this book series around 2014 and I believe this was the 3rd book in the series; I can't really remember what the other books were about. A young male character, maybe child or teenager is adventuring on a boat. They end up coming across this flower or plant that causes blindness when burned and made into ash. One of the adult or older characters has gone into the room where the plant is kept and burns one of the leafs/petals and the ash gets in his eyes and makes him blind. I'm pretty sure the book ends with one of the characters jumping into the water. I think the cover was greenish or maybe had a dock with a city in front of it.

I apologize, I will fix the caption. JF means Juvenile Fiction.

Marielle, who is the boy traveling with on the boat?

Can you describe their location (e.g., jungle, river, sea, etc.)? Realistic Earth or a fantasy world?

Why do they burn the plant/ flower? What does it look like?

I copied a few details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it
