Book - The Hike
Author - Susi Holliday
Date - 9/13/24
Rating - 1 Star
Review - Imagine if you will 2 couples decide to go on a holiday. Not only do the couples despise their current spouses, but they also take an intense dislike for the other couple that they INVITED on said holiday. Not only do they take this holiday, but they agree to do an activity that all 4 of them HATE in another country and without being able to take their phones on said activity.
Nooooo..Nothing sus happening here
Come on Susi Q, for real?? The whole shit and caboodle (characters, plot, ending) sucks monkey balls. If you're looking for a twist to bump it up a star, it happens in the last chapter, but it's sub par and not surprising.

Book - Girls' Night Out
Author - Liz Fenton
Date Read - 9/25/24
Rating - 2 stars
Review - I think the book should be retitled as, "What not to do while on vacay in Mexico." We seriously have another book here where friends go on vacation together and you really wonder why. We have 3 friends here, Ashley, Lauren, and Natalie who have "been" friends for 20 years, but within the last 5 or so things have been a bit rough. 2 own a business together and the 3rd is sort of the third wheel. Ashley likes playing the MC in everything. She's pretty, confident, and is talented in getting what she wants regardless if it hurts someone else. Natalie is her bff and her business partner. Natalie is in some deep doo doo and is on the verge of losing everything she owns because her husband is a putz and has very little brains when it comes to investing. So Nat wants to sell the company that she own with Ash. Lauren is the other friend that has been the most mad as Ashley because she blames her for her husband dying (spoiler alert: Ashley had nothing to do with it. Geoff was just a huge POS).
So Ashley decides to take her and her 2 friends to Tulum, Mexico to try and get back to the friendship they once had. However, Ashley decides to do every single thing your Mama warns you not to do when going into a foreign country, including getting cozy with a perfect stranger and bringing him on every single activity. Nat and Lauren are not thrilled with cozy stranger, but they still go ahead do dumb shite.
This could have been a really great book if I could get over Dumb, Dumb, and Dumber being, well, DUMB. All 3 were pretty crappy people in general. I had no sympathy for any of them. I was hoping for a really cool twisty ending. That would have made it so much better, but alas, it didn't happen and the worst is I had to wait until the very last page. Hence the 2 star rating.

Well, as you can see, I really like one of these and didn't really like the other! But that's okay, it got it off my TBR and now I know I don't need to read anymore by that author!
