Religious book about a man who goes to jail for not paying child support

This is going to sound like such a wild tale, but I have such a vivid memory of it, but my mother does not. It is a story written about someone I know. They went to jail for not paying child support, even tho they were but their ex wife mad either look like they really weren’t, and he went to jail for 30 days, and it is described as “going through the wilderness”. I’m trying to remember more details of what was in the book and not just his experience, but if you can find it from such a vague experience please let me know 🫶
