Renae Plave | 2 comments Hopefully someone can help me! I read this book recently (2022-2024) and I believe it was published recently too. The plot as I remember it focuses on a female main character (MC) who grows up in royal court with three other children. The prince, the prince’s younger brother and the prince’s betrothed. However, for some strange reason MC and the Prince have a physical bond that means if one of them gets hurt so does the other. The king is an abusive man and has scarred both of them torturing them. Separately there is a group of magicians trying to infiltrate the castle and get access to MC, they send a spy in the form of a healer. I remember the healer murdering his boss (who was a bad guy anyways) and having an accomplice who gets addicted to drugs. I believe the drugs were administered through drops (maybe eye drops? Not for sure on this one.)

Eventually the four of them get trapped in the castle in a siege. The younger brother is dying and going crazy, meanwhile the MC is learning about her magic. Also I think she sleeps with a stable boy but gets caught. Also I think the king feeds people to vicious dogs. Last bit I remember is the healer/spy tapping into MC’s magic and being overwhelmed by it.

Help help help!

Renae, please, no ALL CAPS in the topic header. It looks like shouting.
