I keep thinking of Big Anthony from the Strega Nona books. XD
Also, The Witch-Child keeps popping into my head, but the details are slightly different.

It had some illustrations per chapters or so and it had its amusing moments but it very active. I feel like I can recall the house being able to fly at some point as well but its been ages. unfortunately i dont see the book in the links provided

I remember the illustration of the book cover being green and having twigs, like forest based. and I think the book had illustrations similar to the style of Quentin Blake. I read this book roughly 8-10 years ago
