This begins a group discussion of our Modern book selection, Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, nominated by Tori.
Here you can comment, without spoilers, on any aspects of the book, either before, during, or after reading it.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I get more out of this every time I read it. I gave it four stars and a long review that I'll save for the spoiler thread.

Do note that it was first published in 1977. Way before computers etc. Oh, and of course y'all know it won the Newbery Medal, and that Paterson is a favorite among educators and librarians of the era.

Computers did exist in 1977. They were large monolithic mainframes with card readers and tape data storage. PC's were just being developed too.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well sure. I mean, something more like the kind I'm typing on right now. :)

Martina | 21 comments I got it early from the library and just finished it. I was looking forward to it as Newbury books are usually great, but I was disappointed in this one. Looking forward to everyone’s thoughts.

Daniel Clark | 22 comments I somehow never read this in school.

I thought it was a fantasy book based on the title, but unless there's a Narnia/wardrobe situation coming up soon, I may be wrong!
