I find this to be the case with the long running Bascom and Sueno mystery series by Martin Limon. Fast paced action, moderate sex and a historically accurate back drop make for a good story. If you like a darker setting, I recommend Lars Keplar.
For non-fiction I feel the same way about Hampton Sides and Dan Hampton.

What Lies Within Masks and Shadows by Nicolle May
A Court of Thorns and Roses
Fourth Wing

See Jane Run by Joy Fielding
Intensity by Dean Koontz
The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deavers
Mary Higgins -Two Little Girls in Blue

See Jane Run by Joy Fielding
Intensity by Dean Koontz
The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deavers
Mary Higgins -Two Little Girls in Blue"
Finally a woman who likes the same books that I like!!! ♥
I have all Joy Fielding crime novels, I have more than 50 hardcover books by Mary Higgins Clark (and reread them every few years in lack of any decent alternatives).
"Intensity" was a very thrilling TV movie, but I still haven't read Koontz' novel.
Will look into Jeffrey Deavers.
You might like "The Unforgiven" by Patricia MacDonald and "The little Girl who lives down the Lane" by Laird Koenig.

A Court of Thornes and Rose & A Court of Mist and Fury(so close to finishing this one)
Queen of Shadows
Queen of Nothing

I usually dislike Nora Roberts' novels, but this one was great and the TV movie with Heather Locklear and Jonathon Schaech is very compelling.
