I read the book I'm looking for when I was in High School so that would have been in the mid to late 90's (1994-1996 or maybe a little after). It was in the vein of Christopher Pike and RL Stine's Fear Street books but I do not think it was by one of those authors. I just want to point a warning that there may be some spoilers in here as I try to remember what I can about the book. lol It may have had Snow in the title and I think the cover had a snowy scene with a snowman on it. I think the kids were sisters but I'm not 100% sure on that. I remember at the begninning of the book the kids are getting of the bus and it's just starting to snow. Their parents were away but I cannot remember where they were or why they can't get home. The snow storm gets bad and they end up being trapped home alone for days. They hear on the radio/news that a killer had escaped from prison or a mental hospital in the area. At one point a stranger shows up at their door and I think he's injured. They do end up letting him in and helping him but they are suspicious of him. Bad things start happening around their house. At one point a body is found inside a Snowman I think. I think a friend/boyfriend stops by at one point before the snow gets too bad but he leaves, or so they think. They may have a dog but again that's not 100% either. I know this is probably pretty vague but I remember liking it and it's bugging me that I cannot remember the title! Any help would be appreciated!

The Snowman by R. L. Stine seems to match your cover description? But Cusick's has a snowman too but not snow in the title. Cusick's book is on openlibrary.
