I read it when I was in middle school but I came out before, I went to middle school around 2019 so the book is older than that year. A teen girl, her brother, and best friend (male) go to town and she somehow ends up having to fight to the death in an arena with other warriors, but she's the first girl to have to do so. She wins and is sent to train with the royal guard. Her brother and friend are part of some sort of resistance against the monarchy. To quell upset, the prince offers to marry a commoner, the main girl who won. She agrees to marry the prince but does it to spy for the rebellion but her best friend thinks she's betrayed them. Possibly a love triangle there. The only other thing I really remember is that I think the prince travels to another part of the country to learn more about the rebellion and is knocked unconscious? Oh and I think they force young commoners to fight for them and her brother is chosen but I think the prince saves him. Possibly the step mother ambushes and kidnaps the girl and sells her for money.

Sadly,it’s not resistance but I’ll definitely go that one a read. One of the parts that I remember from the book is that the girl and her best friend are both in charge of taking care of the prince and while her best friend is guarding the door the prince and the girl have their first kiss. I need to find this book so bad 😭
