Pretty quiet out there. Posted a story and I hope no one takes it as a political statement, just a story...though I am voting for Kennedy.

message 7: by Tom (new)

Tom Olbert | 1445 comments Interesting concept, Jot.

Happy Father's Day to all my dads out there

message 9: by Jack (new)

Jack McDaniel | 280 comments Thanks, Jot. Hope everyone had a good one.

message 10: by Justin (new)

Justin Sewall | 1244 comments I had a really wonderful Father's Day with my kids. I did something with each one of them (minus the two who were working) and it was a special time. I miss my own Dad. He passed away last September suddenly. I am glad I was out in Chicago last Father's Day to spend time with him and my youngest brother.

I thought it was a good example of the perspective theme.

Very interesting story Tom. I liked the premise. Nicely done.

message 13: by Justin (new)

Justin Sewall | 1244 comments Jeremy, I liked the Red vs. Blue idea. Funny but serious at the same time.

message 14: by Jeremy (new)

Jeremy Lichtman | 410 comments Thanks Justin.

Disclaimer: Just in case somebody doesn't know, Blue/Red team are military terms of art (red = attack, blue = defense). Nothing to do with the traditional colors of any given political party.

Indeed. And as an avid HALO player, I'm well acquainted with R v B. :)

My sympathies, Justin. Moments are precious. You never know when the end will come. I'm glad you had such a good father's day with your kids.

I agree. Very well envisioned and humorous. (Read kind of like a travel advert.)

Thanks Tom! It was one of those rare moments of peace when the kids aren't antagonizing each other and I got to spend individual time with each one doing something. Which, when you have six kids, takes some doing! :)

Tom Olbert | 1445 comments Happy Juneteenth, all.

And to you, Tom. They should have made that a national holiday long ago.

Paula | 1088 comments A good Father's Day, good Juneteenth, and good Writing Days to each of you!
I've put a piece up. Not entirely sure it's science fiction, though;

Otherworldly references...I'd say it's close enough. Quite lovely.

Thanks Tom! I do get disappointed with myself when I don't get a story in.

Writer's block is our common enemy. Nothing to be ashamed of.

message 32: by Paula (last edited Jun 26, 2024 09:55PM) (new)

Paula | 1088 comments Writing the same sort/genre and length of story each month for the same several readers can be difficult if one is busy--yet also can cause a temporary burn-out, so probably no major concern, Justin. You'll write a story next month, and/or the next month, etc.; meanwhile, get out to a park or the pool or a drive or some hiking with the kids in the woods maybe--?!

message 33: by Tom (new)

Tom Olbert | 1445 comments The July theme is up.
