The Spooksville series by Christopher Pike? I think book 4, Aliens in the Sky, has the twist you remember

The Secret Path (book 1) of the Spooksville series by Christopher Pike - Becca's find.
I'm looking for a series of books I remember from my childhood in the 90s.
They were very slim books, and each followed an adventure of a group of kids living in a strange town where ghosts and aliens were present. I remember one story of them meeting an alien and the reveal being that the 'aliens' were humans from the future, evolved to have grey skin and massive eyes.
Possibly US books. But I was reading them in the UK
Any help much appreciated! I loved them so much.
