Marissa | 10 comments Alright so I really like stories where there is sometime of conspiracy- books that make you feel like you are being let in on a big secret. For example sorry I don't care what anyone says about Nicholas Cage- I actually love the movie National Treasure because, like, whaaat how cool is it that there could just be treasure hidden somewhere that nobody knows about. I also extend this category to government conspiracies/things that the general public doesn't know about. Not completely sure I explained that well but yeah. I love my John Green books as much as the next gal but I am getting seriously tired of teen romance books and I need something with a little more adventure/mystery. It can be fantasy/magic type books as well, if anyone has any suggestions.

The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell

Teri-K | 305 comments Although you don't realize it at first, Megan Whalen Turner's series fits the bill - the first book is The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner .

Ice Station Zebra ; The Guns Of Nava[book:Partisansrone ; Where Eagles Dare|149664]
Golden Rendezvous
The Satan Bug

Alistair MacLean writes a good story, and some kind of conspiracy is always a part of them. I just listed the first 4 that came to me, but there are more. Sometimes the conspiracy is governmental (not always U.S. government, either) and sometimes it's the "bad guys" conspiracy.

Michele | 2488 comments The Eight by Katherine Neville is another one.

Shelley's Heart has your government conspiracy :)

Christian Nation features a Dominionist conspiracy to take over the country.

The Manchurian Candidate is a classic.

Anything by Robert Ludlum would fit the bill, too -- he's the author of the Jason Bourne books (starting with The Bourne Identity), but I think several of his others are even better -- The Scarlatti Inheritance, The Holcroft Covenant, The Osterman Weekend, etc.

Nente | 67 comments It might feel a bit dated by now, but Foundation by Asimov, and the two follow-up books (I wouldn't bother with the rest, though).
