Alright so I really like stories where there is sometime of conspiracy- books that make you feel like you are being let in on a big secret. For example sorry I don't care what anyone says about Nicholas Cage- I actually love the movie National Treasure because, like, whaaat how cool is it that there could just be treasure hidden somewhere that nobody knows about. I also extend this category to government conspiracies/things that the general public doesn't know about. Not completely sure I explained that well but yeah. I love my John Green books as much as the next gal but I am getting seriously tired of teen romance books and I need something with a little more adventure/mystery. It can be fantasy/magic type books as well, if anyone has any suggestions.

If you like National Treasure, you would probably like these puzzle-solving searches for hidden items/information also:The Eight and its sequel The Fire by Katherine Neville
Angels & Demons and its sequel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
The Flanders Panel and The Club Dumas by Arturo Pérez-Reverte
The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
The Genesis CodeThe Last Templar
The Historian
For all of these, when you view the goodreads page be sure to look at "Readers also enjoyed" (upper right) for similar suggestions :
I just finished Uncaged by John Sandford and Michele Cook. it has a conspiracy aspect and is sooo good.
Although you don't realize it at first, Megan Whalen Turner's series fits the bill - the first book is
.
Ice Station Zebra ; The Guns Of Nava[book:Partisansrone ; Where Eagles Dare|149664]
Golden Rendezvous
The Satan Bug
Alistair MacLean writes a good story, and some kind of conspiracy is always a part of them. I just listed the first 4 that came to me, but there are more. Sometimes the conspiracy is governmental (not always U.S. government, either) and sometimes it's the "bad guys" conspiracy.

The Eight by Katherine Neville is another one.Shelley's Heart has your government conspiracy :)
Christian Nation features a Dominionist conspiracy to take over the country.
The Manchurian Candidate is a classic.
Anything by Robert Ludlum would fit the bill, too -- he's the author of the Jason Bourne books (starting with The Bourne Identity), but I think several of his others are even better -- The Scarlatti Inheritance, The Holcroft Covenant, The Osterman Weekend, etc.
It might feel a bit dated by now, but Foundation by Asimov, and the two follow-up books (I wouldn't bother with the rest, though).

I definitely second "Angels & Demons and its sequel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown". Loved both, and the films are also excellent!
