SOLVED. YA Psychological Thriller series, read in the 2000’s (3 books?). Girl from remote New England island goes to a boarding school where the owners try to drive her insane. [s]

Young girl lives with her family on a remote island in New England and has to travel by ferry to get to her boarding school. Over the course of the novels, she begins to believe that the owners (a couple I think?) are purposefully using gas lighting and cruel tricks to drive her insane, and she’s not their first victim.

I wish I could remember it more, but I recall so much frustration throughout the book as she appeals to family and authority figures to try and convince them of what is happening and is constantly turned away until everyone starts to truly think she is losing her mind and lashing out at these kindly school proprietors. Any help?
