Review
Sadly, this is my last book with O'Mara and friends. I've enjoyed this trip to the past and the glimpse to an unexpected future. It has to nice to meet old and new friends, and there is a love story although not a conventional one. Bye to the Sector General, although I'll probably revisit it in the future.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For "forward", read a book in a series you've already started (book #2+)
* For fae, read a book found on one of these shelves: GR fae or SOS fae

I will be reading Brothersong by T.J. Klune it is #4 in a series I've already started so I'm moving "forward".

Book: Wolfsong by T.J. Klune
Pages: 528
How it fits: shelved 402 times as 'shifters' on GRs
I'm about 60% through with my 'S' book selection. Its a little chunky and squeezing it in between vacay activities...

Book: Killer's Kiss by Keri Arthur

Shelf 6: F
Book: The Line Between Here and Gone by Andrea Kane
Pages: 400
Forward: I've read first book in the series and another ones (this is the second one)

Title/Author: Wolfsong by T.J. Klune
Series: Green Creek #1

Review: This is the first book in the Green Creek series and introduces Oxnard 'Ox' Matheson as a young boy losing his father as he chose to walk out on their little family. Ox initially comes across as a slow, simple boy which his father taught him wasn't worth anything. Flash forward to Ox at 16 and the Bennett pack moves back to town and actually next door to Ox and his mother. His whole world changed with the Bennett's pack acceptance, and suddenly Ox becomes extraordinarily special. The Bennett's youngest son and future alpha Joe finds a special connection with Ox, and the family cherishes this bond for a boy that was kidnapped and tortured at a young age. We continue to watch these boys grow into young men and into the responsibility and danger that comes with leading a pack. The good: Liked the storyline from youth to adult, from the lowest point to competent adult. Ox had a great support system in the garage and his mothers love. The not so good: I feel that this story could have been told in half the pages. The details and minutia were drawn out IMO. Listened in audio, good narration. Not sure if I will continue this series.

Did a lot more beachin' than reading this vacay...

That's good! Reading can be done at home, beaching no ;)

Title/Author: Killer's Kiss by Keri Arthur
Series: Lizzie Grace #11
Date Read: 6/19/2024
Shelf: Shelf #6 - F
How it fits: I chose to read a book in a series you've already started
Pages: 309
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Review: This is the eleventh book in the Lizzie Grace series and the witch and werewolves are faced with a large demon snake, a Basilisk... Brought on by the vampires and an ancient vamp and feud tied to one of the local vampires Maelle along with her renfield Roger. It's a race to eliminate the evil before the evil kills more locals. The good: Love time with Lizzie, Bell, Aiden, and Monty. Eli and Ashworth too. We finally get some resolution with the overarching storyline with Lizzie and her love interest, Aiden. Witches vs Werewolves don't belong, yadda yadda, and their attempt at love conquers all... Trying to review without much spoilery. The not so good: Poor Lizzie and team just run around in circles trying to kill the bad things in each episode, tracking spells and all. And she always seems to be in danger and gets banged up A LOT... Long time Keri Arthur fan, she was one of my first authors into the UF/PNR series genre. After her series reads I was hooked!! Listened to this in audio, and it is very very good.

Book: Ravensong by T.J. Klune
Space: "G"
How it Fits: Green in series name
Pages: 512
Rating: 4 Stars
Read: 6.19.24
Review:
Upon completing the book I'm giving it 4 stars. I don't think it was as emotionally impactful on me as the first book in the series and in comparison to the first I don't know if it was as good in my opinion. I found Gordo to be really interesting in the first book and was really interested in the concept of a pack witch. I wanted to know more about his history and how he had a falling out originally with the Bennett pack. This is a second chance romance as well. This book also clues us in to what happened in the three years Joe, Gordo, Kelly, and Carter were away from the rest of the pack. The things they were dealing with and how hard it was for their journey. Mark is still a mysterious person, but we get much deeper into his feelings from Gordo's perspective. Their past and relationship is tragic and conflicted. I will be continuing with the series.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For "Jasmine", read a book with a white cover; author or character named Jasmine; or jasmine in the title or series name
* For jacket, read a book found on one of these shelves: GR cover love or SOS cover-leather-lace

It’s a super chunky book. 800+ pages 😳😳
Found the Graphic Audio and it’s over 20+ hours of listening. So if it doesn’t grab me quickly I’ll probably look at the shelves again.

I have liked the book, as I like the author's writing. There are some aspects, however, that feel a bit forced. Not thinking the reason for the father's murder as the novel develops... Perhaps that's the weakest point for me, the rest of the book feels right and I've enjoyed a lot the journey. I will read more in the series for sure.

I think this JAK's novel has not aged well (or my tastes have changed). I've felt it flat, an absurd plot, and characters like cartoons. I don't know, in the end, what's the change, so I can read it, because it's still JAK, but not enjoyed it a lot. I'll keep on reading JAK's novels but I think I'm going to avoid the old novels that i haven't read.

I've got this one as a 2 for 1, the other book is Legacy. I think both were pretty bad, I've never bothered reading either of them again.

For "F" I will be going with Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett it is tagged as Fae 525 times.
For "S" I will be going with Bride by Ali Hazelwood tagged as shifter 126 times.

Book: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
Pages: 874
How it fits: shelved on GRs for ‘cover love’. 70x
I'm sticking with this super chunky book. This is one of the few Graphic Audios I have managed to keep going with... Just a long one.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For "Quicken", read a recently released book you've been waiting for impatiently or a quick, light read (a book with 200-299 pages)
* For queen, read a book found on one of these shelves: GR fantasy royalty, GR paranormal royalty or SOS fairytale

I am going to the ALA Conference on Saturday so I probably won't get much physical reading done, but I will be listening to an audiobook during my drive. I am still crossing my fingers to get Gold done this weekend.
For the "Q" shelf I will go with The Fae Princes by Nikki St. Crow it is 226 pages I should get through that during my drive since I'll be doing the audiobook.

Title/Author: Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
Series: Emily Wilde #1
Date Read: 6/27/2024
Shelf: #6 - "F"
How it fits: shelved 525 times as Fae
Pages: 321
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review:
I've seen this book talked about a lot. I knew I would probably like it. I went into it really blind. I just knew that there was someone making an Encyclopedia of Fae and knowing Fae there would be shenanigans. But this book was also a lot of fun. Emily is a great character and I really loved her and everyone she came into contact with. There are a lot of different Faerie stories and encounters. The romance was a little lack luster for me. I didn't feel like it was necessary or added anything to the plot. The book was slow at first and I really didn't know if I'd continue it, but I didn't want to give up since I'm already so behind.

Title/Author: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
Series: Crescent City #1
Date Read: 6/27/2024
Shelf: Shelf #7 ~ J is for Jacket (Cover love)
How it fits: shelved on GRs for ‘cover love’. 70x
Pages: 874
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: This is the first book in the Crescent City series which is a full fantasy series with different realms and creatures including archangels, fallen angels, fae, shifters, sprites, and everything in between. This world is protected from other realms including the demon realms which can cross over if summoned unless someone takes down the gates. The story follows Bryce Quinlan a half human half fae party girl that struggles over the loss of her best friends. She spirals and is just going through the motions of life for several years when she is asked by the Archangels to work on case that is tied to her best friend Danika's murder. She is partnered with Hunt Athalar, a Fallen angel that is enslaved to the Archangel Micah. He is offered a deal if he can find the murderer, the terms of his slavery will be greatly reduced and he will be closer to gaining his freedom.
This was the second series I have read by Sarah Maas so I came into this book knowing that is was going to have a great deal of worldbuilding and moving pieces. Bryce and Hunt both had some major issues to overcome and incredibly thick walls in place to guard themselves from the past. This was an enemies to lovers type relationship that slowly builds as they work together following up clues and surviving attacks. The good: The characters grew on me, not a fan at first. A lot of politics and character development that changes with the storyline unfolding. The not so good: This series has more of an adult based content, so not a big fan of the YA type storyline where the weak, non-magical girl is the only one that can save the day, the friends, the world... I listened to this in the audio dramatized format and it was very long, but good. I will probably continue with this series after bingo when time is not as much of a factor.

She felt she needed an emotional support cat to take with her since she is moving 8 hours away for vet school. She found a rescue litter through the vet clinic she's working for the summer. Couldn't take just one because they were "bonded" with each other. She's taking the black and white 'tuxedo' female. Which translate to I'm going to get a new cat too, which is a yellow tom cat. LOL

Title/Author: The Fae Princes by Nikki St. Crow
Series: Vicious Lost Boys #4
Date Read: 6/29/2024
Shelf: "Q"
How it fits: 226 pages, in between 200 and 299 pages
Pages: 226
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review:
I was a bit disappointed in this one. I thought since it's the last book in the series it would nicely wrap up some questions, and finish fleshing out the world. I mean, to be real, the story really isn't about those things, but more about the sex and relationships. However, I think the author had the opportunity to really dig deeper into the world and just didn't do it. There were mentions of places, and other magics and it didn't go any further. While, there was a completion to the series at the end of this book, it wasn't satisfying. The ending also leaves the impression there could be a spin off involving Roc, Tilly, Wendy and Captain Hook. This is also a reverse harem, which I've realized after reading a few really isn't my thing.

Review
I've loved this book. It's difficult to redeem a character as the North Witch, but it has been paved the road to this through different books and, in this one, you totally understand and like the character. Lea, the other MC (the red dragon) is delicious, the same than Penny. You will enjoy better this one if you have read the prequella (Loralie and the red dragon), but I've found the book sweet and delicious and the love story, lost lovers, enemies and lovers again, is very, very sweet. I'm seeing more books in this world, and I'm eagerly waiting for them.

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For "Pruning", read a book in a series you've started, but let get away from you (more than 3 books in the series left TBR) or a book you put on your TBR list a year or more ago
* For PNR, read a book found on one of these shelves: GR PNR or SOS PNR

I will be going with Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare it's been on my TBR for much longer than a year.

Series: Grimm Bargains #1

Shelf: #8 - Q is for Quicken
How it fits: Recently released book you've been waiting for impatiently

Review: This is the first book in the Grimm Bargains series that roughly reflects the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast. The beauty is Alana who is the sole heir after the death of her brother from her family's social media business, and possesses the power to charge the family's aquamarine gems. Her father attempts to create an alliance by marrying her to a competitor family. Mean while she is kidnapped by the beast, Thorn, who is extremely rich and owns his own social media empire. The good: Really enjoyed the storyline of cutthroat social media power houses, the leaders are successful influencers who gain power from followers and the ability to charge their family gems. Gems are at the core of the social media businesses. Those with the magic of charging the gems in the family, hold the power. The not so good - While I'm usually a big fan of RZ and her series and I enjoy a good enemies to lovers storyline... I'm not a fan of taking the uber smart and sassy heroine and having her dominated by an obnoxious alpha-hole (view spoiler) Because I was really looking forward to this new series by this author, I was a little disappointed. This felt like my turn in the road from reading future Anita Blake books. Listened in audio format, which was good.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

It has been a lot of time since I've read a book so full of typical characters (elf, gargoyle, vampire, witch....). For me, it has read more like a comic than a novel, although I've enjoyed it. Some aspects are a bit "simple" but a funny and nice reading, anyway. I think I will check if there is a book about Pandora.
