Sci-Fi short story. The protagonist wants to know more about an intriguing academic article he's found about making predictions/projections, scientifically, using current data and conditions. No one every published follow up papers. People try to stymie his investigations.
I don't think it was new when I read it ~2005.
I think it's set in the future, maybe on the moon or maybe other stories in the collection are set on the moon. It is not The Minority Report.

Of course, only too late, after publishing his findings/building the program/device, does he understand that now there will never be privacy again. By looking at conditions and data in front of me, I can determine what's going on the other side of a closed door. It is the vibe of predictive modeling and contradicting the idea of Schrodinger's cat.
