You can enter the series books you want to read on the Round 2 tab using "WO4" "WO5" etc in the MINI ref column (column N) - we'll start putting our Wall 2 and Wall 3 walls together from those options.

In Wall 1 looks like we still need a #6 and a window, so a 2.5 or something.

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments FYI:

To help with finding part 3 The Door books, we threw a tab on our tracking sheet called "ShelterBookOptions" displaying all the Round 1 shelter books read by other teams.

message 1007: by Teddie (last edited Jun 29, 2024 05:49AM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Wall 2 and Wall 3 options:

So far:
WO1 | Catching Fire - #2
WO2 | Purity in Death - #15
WO3 | Better Off Dead - #26

(WO just means Wall Option - these books haven't been assigned to a wall yet)

I've got Peace Talks #16 and Sleep No More #17 if we want to run a wall round 15-17.

Ok, apparently the series books for the walls need to be in order AND consecutive, so we can't be quite as loosey goosey on those other 2 walls as I thought :D

Where are you all wrt your series in progress? Do we have enough people with a 7+ book in series to do a wall with book #s like:

10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 ?

We also need to consider windows - not many series have a "decimal" book high up in the series... Kate Daniels, other series whose authors do short stories / novellas here and there.

The Jack Reacher series has a lot of .5 books further up in the series but I'm finding it hard to find books which fulfil the 'over 100 page' requirement.

Edit: In Death on the other hand has a couple of .5 books further on in the series that are over 100 pages.

I have #18, #7, various #1-#4s, #5 #6, and I'm on #4 of the In Death series but I can get through those reasonably quickly.

message 1011: by Teddie (last edited Jun 29, 2024 08:46AM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Ok, so we could do a Wall 2 with:

15 - Purity in Death (teddie)
16 - Peace Talks (sophie)
17 - Sleep No More (sophie)
17.5 window - Big Jack (teddie)
18 - Divided in Death (lucy)

Does anyone have an 11, 12, 13, 14 OR 19, 20, 21, 22 ?

Wall 1 still needs a #6 and a window between 1-8 (so a 1.5 or 2.2, etc.)

Wall 3 could be lower numbers again, starting at 1 or 2 - what do you guys think?

We could also start with a prequel (often marked as 0).

Very true - I'm hearing good things about The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Gone Tomorrow is number 13 and my next Reacher so I could read that too, but that will probably be most of my reading for the mini challenge!

message 1015: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments On the series reads do they need to be the same series. Or can we mix series with different book #

message 1016: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments It can be any series as long as the numbers are in order. :)

message 1017: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I also have Ballad from the Hunger Games, but thought to use it for the door task as it was used for shelter by another team.

message 1018: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments I found a #6 in my next in series so I added it too the spreadsheet

message 1019: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments I have Cross Country (the next one for me in the Alex Cross series) which is #14 in the series

message 1020: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments I found a 2.5 I need to read so I added to the spreadsheet which makes wall 1 planning complete

message 1021: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
13 - Gone Tomorrow (Sophie)
14 - Cross Country (Cecily)
15 - Purity in Death (teddie)
16 - Peace Talks (sophie)
17 - Sleep No More (sophie)
17.5 window - Big Jack (teddie)
18 - Divided in Death (lucy)

Leaves us 11 and 12, 12 and 19 or 19 and 20 to finish a higher number wall!

message 1022: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I can read a Poirot for 12 (Death in the clouds), but I am sure Lauri & Vicki can also come up some hits concerning series. :)

If anyone wants to take over a 5 or any of the ones on that sequence, that's fine with me.

message 1028: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Go Lauri! :)

Well, I would say definitely #19: The Council of the Cursed - I'll add that to our planning sheet.

Then all we need to finish Wall 2 is a #12 or a #20 - anyone have one of those?

message 1029: by Teddie (last edited Jun 29, 2024 06:54PM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments For Wall 3 we can start with a 0 or 1: Maritza, Ushashi, Marty, Suzanne, Stephanie, Mel - do you have any lower series numbers you want to read? Then we can fill in with Lauri's and other options and we'll have those walls planned :)

Wall 3 so far:
2 - Catching Fire Teddie
3.5 A court of frost and starlight Cat

message 1036: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments I can definitely add a series book or 2. What #(s) do we still need?

message 1037: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Sorry - I've been sick/out of it this weekend. This infection I have is antibiotic resistant, and I was mostly in bed! What a day to miss out on!
I have a bajillion series books of any number that I can read. I need to go water the garden then I'll try to see what's still needed. Can I tell from the spreadsheet? There is a LOT of talk above.

message 1038: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments And yes - I am reading Witch King and can certainly hold off finishing it til July first, if that works!

message 1039: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Suzanne, so sorry to hear you are ill. :(

Wishing you speedy recovery.

message 1040: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments So I put down a 12 and a 1, but now reading up - it looks as if Lauri is searching for a 12 or 20, and there are lots of people naming #1 in series. I 100% don't care if the books I put down go in "the wall" or not - so please replace them if I'm stepping on toes or even just if you found something!

In that series that I put the 12 in, I still need to read books:
2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19. They can be read any order. So I'd be happy to step in with one or two of any in that series!

message 1041: by Marty (new)

Marty (martymill) | 167 comments Playing catch up here - I've added three series picks to the Walls. I have other titles I can add, but I think I'll work on these first.

message 1042: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Captains

if there are more than enough books for the wall, mine (#3 & #4) can be moved for other tasks, I don't mind. :))

message 1043: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'll take a look later this afternoon and see what is still needed & go from there.

message 1044: by Vicki (last edited Jun 30, 2024 11:28AM) (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Can we use a #24 in a series? If so, where should I put it? The 24th Hour

Also, I may have messed up. I put You Can Hide for one of the mini but already started it prior to today. I think we have to wait until July 1 to START reading for the mini tasks, correct? If so, I'll add another book in its place.

message 1045: by Melindam (new)
