Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments What happens if we/they can’t find a book? Should an easier option be subbed instead?

message 352: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments It's probably something we'd have to get a ruling on, but I think we'll be far fetched to not find ANYTHING.

Even though three letters are ideal to give us a little edge (5 points worth), we can use the full final word of the title.

We can also call in a favor on the supply drop front. Let's say we have the three letter combo of PST, we could ask D12 to read and send us a book that starts with the first letter (P) which would leave us with just ST to match.

Right. I couldn’t really understand the supply drop letter thingy. Thanks.😀

I have The Angel of Waterloo on my TBR, so would be happy to read.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments Yes that appealed to me too. Jackie French writes a gardening column for my local newspaper.

message 358: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I had an angel book too, but I like The Angel of Waterloo better. LOO gives them loose which should be an easier match, we really put them through the ringer with physics.

I'm going to go ahead and send it over to keep moving, you two can decide which one of you wants to read it. No need to decide today, we can wait and see if one of you has a book for later in the chain and then the other one can read it - unless you want to fight it out. lol

Ashleigh if you have your own copy you should read it. If you don’t want to I can though.

I don't have a copy, would have to borrow. You suggested it so I'm happy to leave it with you. Let me know how it is!

How did you like Starling House? I'm going to try to fit it in sometime this week too.

I loved it. It's what I love about BOM challenges, they introduce me to books I wouldn't usually go for. So I'd say go for it.

message 366: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1978 comments I've been browsing a little but haven't had time to really dive deep yet -- I've mostly been trying to find good words. I don't know that we'll get anywhere with RME. We might with ORME. I've been looking at FORME though because of the word options (former, formerly, etc.) which isn't great letters wise but probably the least heinous as far as potentially boring options though.

I'm about to be off for a bit but I'll check back. If no one else has anything they're really interested in / a better option I could probably do The Former Assassin's Guide to Snagging a Reluctant Boyfriend. END would probably be easy for them so if anyone else has something feel free to go with that!

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Found a book! I'll read it if no one else wants to take it since it's short. Ormeshadow - especially cause it looks like I can get it from my library.

Ashleigh (ashleighbailey) | 103 comments Shelby wrote: "Found a book! I'll read it if no one else wants to take it since it's short. Ormeshadow"

I am able to borrow Ormeshadow from the library, so put me down for this one. 😊

message 369: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I think Ormeshadow sounds like a solid choice - if no one else pops in with a better options before I go to bed (~2 hours from now) I'm going to go ahead and send that over to keep things moving.

We have about 58 hours left until we need to have the chain planned and we can start reading, so that's just under 6 hours to decide on each word.

message 370: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments Good choice. Not time to waste now,

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1978 comments I could do The Road Trip as it's been on my TBR forever, unless someone else has something better they want to read!

message 375: by Catsalive (last edited Jun 19, 2024 08:31PM) (new)

Catsalive | 423 comments Oades Paris 2024? Oadenol's Codex?

The Road of Lost Innocence: The True Story of a Cambodian Heroine? NCE would be hard to find.
The Road to Oz - I suppose there are books starting with ooze.
The Road to Bittersweet - EET?

Not that I can access any of these.

message 376: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments The Road to Oz is available as an ebook through the library but isn’t something I’d want to read. The reviews are pretty grim.

message 378: by Elisabeth (last edited Jun 19, 2024 09:42PM) (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments Road Tripping with Pearl Nash This looks fun!
The Road to Wherever
The Road Trip Kaley’s choice, I think.
The Road to Ironbark
The Road to Gundagai

Heaps more in the library. All are available.

message 379: by Elisabeth (last edited Jun 19, 2024 09:41PM) (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments There are a lot of Aus rural romances starting with The Road…

message 380: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments I'd be down to take The Road to Wigan Pier with a nice IER to hand back to them. I can get it through the library and again a relatively short audio.

message 381: by Shelby (last edited Jun 19, 2024 10:24PM) (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Out of what's been suggested our strongest options look like they would be...

The Road of Lost Innocence: The True Story of a Cambodian Heroine (NCE) - Would need a volunteer
The Road to Bittersweet (EET) - would need a volunteer but is on KU
The Road to Wigan Pier (IER) - I can if no one else wants to volunteer.

Lucy Luu (lovelucyluu) | 238 comments I’m interested in the Road to Bittersweet if no one else is interested in anything!

message 383: by Shelby (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Good morning, team! Since we've had this for more than 6 hours, I'm going to go ahead and send over The Road to Bittersweet.

Keep on mind that we've already forced them to take a hit on Physics which puts us ahead by a few points so there's no need to go terribly hard on them going forward (unless of course they send us something nasty in an attempt to equalize our overlaps!).

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments As a quick check in - who has NOT claimed a book who is willing to read for the battle? Also chime in if you have claimed a book but would be willing to commit to a second.

Just want to get an idea of who we still want to wait for in the conversation!

hhhhhhh now I get it, I think. we're the D3 books, right!

message 398: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments We can't use an Angel book because of the E. *sob*

But I'm just getting home and will take a look at vengeance/vengeful/etc options

message 399: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments I can do Vengeance Road, but we'll need to be careful with the last few overlaps because I think that puts us at a tie? Although I think they'll be stuck with using the full "Road" so they might still be ahead one.

message 400: by Catsalive (last edited Jun 20, 2024 12:56PM) (new)

Catsalive | 423 comments There's a few starting with Engender/ing, such as Engendering America: A Documentary History, 1865 to the Present, then you have Vengeance in Death.
