Ivonne Rovira (goodreadscommiss_ivonne) | 106 comments There are two Laura Bates. One is the English author of Everyday Sexism. The second is the American (Indiana) English professor who teaches in prisons. She's the author of Shakespeare Changed My Life: Ten Years in Solitary with the Bard. I tried to distinguish them by changing the latter to Laura^Bates, but the caret mark is showing. What am I doing wrong?

lethe | 16363 comments The caret mark is only to make clear how many spaces should be typed, we don't actually type the caret mark itself in the author's name.

OK, I feel like an idiot.

So the first Laura Bates gets one space. The second gets two. Am I understanding correctly?

lethe | 16363 comments That is right. And don't worry about it, we've all been there :)

Ivonne Rovira (goodreadscommiss_ivonne) | 106 comments One last thing. Please don't hate me.

I found an edition of Shakespeare Saved My Life: Ten Years in Solitary with the Bard with no cover or ISBN, so I edited it to turn it into the PDF eBook edition, which didn't have a listing. But the orphan coverless, ISBN-less edition is still there! It's like Ghost Ship so something!

The URL is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... Can it be deleted?

lethe | 16363 comments Hmmm, strange. It looks like there were two empty records. Anyway, I have merged the still-empty one with the most popular edition.

Thank you! Two empty records does sound strange.

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #5 - In the future it would be better to have the blank edition merged, so that any reviews/shelving/ratings go up to the default and not stay with the newly created PDF edition.

Then create a new edition.
