Kids fantasy Chapter Book series with a girl with freckles and talking crow

I have read this chapter book back in elementary school (late 2000's).
The series' first book was a girl discovering a tower and helping the young wizard/apprentice bring back a baby unicorn to it's home. The boy had a talking crow as his partner.
I remember that the girl gets bullied at school for her freckles
