I remember reading a fantasy book in the 90s where the main character travelled to different locations, collecting stamps on a map for each location visited. I think each location was a restaurant and it was to complete a challenge. The main character was traveling with someone, maybe an older family member. I also recall the vehicle having some sort of magical ability. The locations may have been restaurants. The vehicle was unusual, something akin to the Oscar Mayer wienermobile.

Not sure why this popped in my head now but has been bugging me. Sometimes think I may imagined it all… appreciate the help in advance.
