YA dystopian Sci-Fi esque novel about a boy stuck in a repeating cycle

i read this book i believe in 2017, it was about a boy who was trapped in a simulated biome by the government. he was in a room made of metal and everytime he tried to escape there was this bug like creature who stopped him and he would faint or die and get put back in the same place and everything would repeat. Im unsure or the title, author, or what the cover looked like

Only there were several boys. I'm not sure what you mean by repeating. I believe they did try escaping a number of times.
