Option 1 🌍 11. Mainland Europe - Read a book set in mainland Europe (aka Continental Europe)🗽🗾🦘💂🏽♀️🥐
📚Page number: 150pg (first kindle edition)
✅ How book qualified: Set in Paris, France. Title and Precis: "Paris, France. The City of Lights is buzzing with more than just electricity…"

Rating (1-5) ⭐⭐⭐
Review: I totally bought into the "in lust" part of this story, but the "in love" not so much. Wren & Mauricio came to Paris to escape from reality and fall into a week long romance with supposedly no strings attached. I liked that both MCs valued family. The story arc of Dominic Corisi didn't make much sense as a first time read for this author.
Fav Quote:
As always, he’d said exactly what I wanted to hear. I almost wished he hadn’t. Perfect meant it wasn’t real.

Week #2
Book: Roommaid
Rating: 3 (really 2.5)
Review: This was fine. The set up was a little interesting, the MCs were likeable enough and the FMC's friends were entertaining. I wish there had been more of the dog, less of the FMCs disasters while cleaning and the "reveal" at the end was a little easy to spot coming. I did audio for this and I found the reader made the FMC sound even more silly. Basically, I probably won't remember much about this in a week.

📝Review: First book in the series and I really didn't like it. If I had read this one first I wouldn't have read the other ones (well I read them out of order for a challenge, so I probably would have done it, but it's not a great start). Really detested Parker. The books I read from this series Parker was much better and not a total duchy-canoe.
Free on KU with audio included. The narration was excellent.

Book: Purity in Death

Qualification: Takes place in New York City as per main page setting. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Review:
I don't know if I was expecting this book to be as good as it was but I loved it. The concept of a computer virus that infects the user is what made me choose to read it but it was the interactions between all of the various players in the story that really got me interested and made me stay. Eve and Roarke's banter between them really showed how strong their relationship is and I love sassy interactions between couples.
The moral dilemma of whether the virus was wrong or not in its execution was also a very compelling sub plot - were the villains truly wrong with the virus or were they doing what they felt that they had been led to do?
I will say that I have not read the previous #14 books in the series (yes, I know how that sounds) but I will definitely be going back to read them all.

Review: This was a cute, very slow burn romance. Loved Elise and Luc but the fact that Luc needed a realtor from America was a bit much. I did want to get my passport and pack my bags for France after reading this though.

📝Review: Dark and dealing with human trafficking. Check tw. I thought this mm, dark, age gap romance was an interconnected standalone, not quite so. I didn't like the ending. Also the narration is very slow. All in all not my favourite, but other appear to like it.

I enjoyed this second chance romance, with Hunter, the the good guy and protector, and Emma, who is scared to risk her heart again. Emma did spend a large portion of the book in denial of the fact that she was in a relationship with Hunter. However, she did she see the light before it became too annoying and they had such a cute HEA.
Fav Quote:
It’s good to see you. Every time we see each other, Hunter says those words. My breath catches and my chest feels tight. Holy shit, he’s been pulling a Princess Bride on me this entire time. He hasn’t been saying It’s good to see you. He’s been saying I love you.

Review: Much like the first one in the series, I really enjoyed the plot line and the intrigue of the mystery. I'm still not a huge fan of the main characters but it wasn't enough to take me out of the storyline. I think while I didn't necessarily enjoy Josie (yawnnnn), I really was on the edge of my seat with wanting to know how it all turned out.

You're not late at all. as long as we post selection at some point during the week it's all good.

I went to Readers Take Denver. I didn't really get any special editions, but I did get to meet JT Geissinger who wrote one of my favorite books Melt for You and Kristen Ashely who is my compulsive guilty pleasure. :) I'm trying to figure out if I have the funds to go to RARE London next year. I have heard such good things!

Week #3
Book: Under the Stars
Rating: 4 stars
Review: For the first 80% this was a 5 star book. Great grumpy/sunshine, LOL dialogue, meddling siblings and co-workers and a nice build to MCs friendship and then progression to a couple. It lost a star in the last little bit because the third act drama made for some very stilted dialogue and a little too much cheese. But I'm fully invested in the family and series, so looking forward to book 3.

Glad you loved the quote too. I often get a better feel if I'm going to like a book from a quote than from the precis. And you can't hate a book that mentions the Princess Bride in it. 😂

Review: This book was a little hard to like on paper you really shouldn't like Marco because of how badly he's treated others. However, when you can be sweet and kind to a grandma you can't be all bad. I honestly believe that Marco had to go through the things he did in order to fully appreciate Morgan.

Week #4
Book: Until Avery
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Since this was a novella, it was a little insta-love for me, but I have enough of a history with the families and the characters that it was still enjoyable. Loved the connection between the two MCs, and loved their circle of friends -- which led me to another whole series. Bonus!

A new series set in the Rubyverse between Kazex, who discovers love at first sight, and Ruthie, who finds herself struggling to let go of her identity as a clone. Ruby Dixon always knows how to write characters that perfectly complement each other and rise above their issues or circumstances. This book addresses issues such as PTSD and anxiety sensitively in an entertaining, spicy tale. I'm looking forward to the rest of the crew finding love & adventure on Risda III.
Fav Quote:
"It's because I'm in love with you." I nearly choke on the noodles, pressing the back of my hand to my mouth to keep everything inside as I cough. "W-what?" "I'm in love with you," Kazex says. "The moment I saw you, I knew." He puts a hand in the air at my panicked look. "You don't have to love me back. I know it's sudden. I'm just telling you the truth of how I feel. I'm helping you because I can't walk away. Because I love you and you need someone. I want to be that someone.”

Book: Love You More by Lisa Gardner

Review: This was such a good book. I think the author did a wonderful job at using suspense and back forth point of view style to tell this mystery. I was yelling in my head at the characters throughout the novel in anger and passion so when the twist came at the end, it was truly surprising and satisfying.
I also think the main character was flawed enough that it made her easy to dislike but at the same time, she acknowledged her flaws which had a sense of satisfaction at the conclusion.

📝Review: Best book in the series🤩 It's very emotional, full of kinky smex🔥🔥🔥, and plenty of political discourse too. As with all Sierra Simone books I've read so far, it has some religious undertones and spiritual contemplation too. I actually slowed it down at times in order to savour it (and it was not just during the smex 😂). Truly loved this one 🥰

Review: Oh lordy, this was such a GOOD book. The was a new to me author and they did such a wonderful job keeping it interesting and suspenseful. The main character was flawed in a way that didn't make her annoying but made you want to know more about her story and how it affects her current day decision making.
There was never any downtime reading - the suspense was non stop which made it an easy read. The topic of the mystery ended up being heavy which was surprising given how long drawn out it felt but I think it was still done in an interesting way. The twist at the end? So out of left field and I loved it all. The second twist at the last minute? Hot damn. I can't wait to read book 2.
