Hope you enjoy it. To be honest the first and second book were good but nothing amazing. But I loved book 3 and Priest and Salt in the wound. Her books have a sense of the forbidden that is not for everyone, but I love the yearning and tension.

I really enjoyed Catherine's growth as a character in believing she deserves good things in her life, including finding love with Brett. Their relationship was disappointing as it was mostly based on insta lust and dramatic circumstances, To be honest I was a little sad Catherine didn't end up with Keith. The theme of family, both the one you are born with and the one you choose, was well written.

8. Country
Read a book set in the country e.g. farm, ranch

In this case the following will work:
* the precis includes a reference to the country, ranch, farm etc
* the book is tagged/shelved with an appropriate reference to country, ranch, farm etc
* the book is set in the wilderness/remote areas
* the bookcover shows a country setting.

Book:Their Frozen Graves by Ruhi Choudhary
Pages: 381
Read: 5/9-11
Rating: 4 stars
Qualification: Precis states, "When two bodies are found dumped in a vast lake in Lakemore, Washington" - Washington is located in the United States.
Review:
Mackenzie Price's life has twists and turns that no one can truly imagine. She has had a rough go of it and this book doesn't make that any better. I love getting an even bigger outlook on the way she thinks and how those thoughts/backstory affect her decision making. She has definitely become one of my favorite female characters.
From this book and the last one, I have really come to enjoy Ruhi Choudhary's writing. They do such a wonderful job at fleshing out the characters enough to make you want to know more about them. Plus, the storyline was so captivating - it had a twist and turn in just about every chapter. It took a relatively predictable storyline and turned it on its head - yet while still being predictable. If you enjoy murder mysteries and small town drama, this is the perfect story for you. It isn't a standalone though - I definitely believe you need to read book 1 first because storylines crossover.

How the book qualifies: From precis, "Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot, older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term.
They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual. And somehow, amid book discussions and farm tours, they discover plenty in common. Now they’re stealing kisses in Finn’s barn..."

Book: All Rhodes Lead Here
Rating: 5 stars
Review: Don't try this one if you don't care for slow burn. I've read this before, but wanted to try it with the new readers on audio and it was wonderful having the dual narration to add to the characters. I enjoyed watching the FMC build a life for herself and get over her situation, and appreciated how the MMC let her do all that before moving things along. One of my favorites from this author.

In the Weeds is a warm, small town read with little angst. Evie seeks a time out from her life and finds her way back into Beckett's. While they were both nice characters, and I was looking forward to reading Beckett's story after meeting him the first book of the Lovelight Series, I was a little disappointed that their "conflict" really could have been solved with one conversation.

Rating: 3 stars
Review: A pretty classic Kristen Ashley, so if you like her writing, this will work for you. It was a little heavy on the spicy side for me so I did some skimming eventually. I also had trouble with some of the way the backstory came out -- we got a good bit of it in dreams rather than hearing the actual story and it took me a while to realize I hadn't accidentally skipped a chapter.

Abby had her world in New York just how she liked it, until she lost her fiancé, workplace and apartment in dramatic fashion. Desperate times call for a trip to her hometown in Ireland, which she loathes, and while there she has decisions to make. I liked the author's warm & funny style of writing in giving the characters an opportunity to either shrink back or forge ahead, embrace their imperfections, and attempt to do better in relationships.
Fav Quote:
I turn my head to look at him and he smiles when I do. The ache in my chest doesn’t go away and I wonder what I’ve done and how I’m just supposed to leave him. How I’m supposed to do anything when I’ve been falling in love with him ever since he picked me up on that cold March night and did his best to make me smile.

Week 7
Book: Rock Chick Reborn
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This was a short (for Kristen Ashley) novella about one of the main side characters of the Rock Chick series. TBH I have trouble keeping all the Chicks and their men separate, but Shirleen always stood out -- until this book. Unfortunately she kind of faded into the same vague female character similar to the rest of the books. I loved the fact that the MCs were older, and enjoyed the interactions with her foster kids but otherwise kind of just a meh addition to the series.

Review:
This was such a great book. I totally understand the five star review now. I'm not normally a fan of the whole fake dating trope but there was something sweet and spicy about this one - not to mention that I do enjoy a strangers to lovers type of relationship. Another plus for me was reading the sisterhood between Nova and her sister. As someone who has a decent age gap between my sister and I, I thought it was caring, sweet, and quite realistic for the situation that they were in.
Obviously a story can't go on forever and it does have to end but I think it kind of wrapped easily and would have enjoyed a little more drama but overall, it was definitely a good read!

The last of the Matthews Brothers finally gets his story and it was worth the wait. Ryker is struggling to return to a normal life after leaving the marines. Bryce is is struggling with the reality of suddenly becoming guardian to her three nieces. Despite their own issues, sparks fly between them. This grumpy/sunshine, small town romance is both honest and funny about how life isn't perfect but holding on to a good thing is worth the trouble.

Review: Now I understand why Vanessa raved about the novel - it was so good! The tension between the main characters was so good from a romance and respect standpoint but I think the relationship I enjoyed the most was between Willa and Lucas. It was obvious that Willa needed Lucas just as much as Lucas needed a mom.
I can't wait to read the others in the series because Elsie Silver did such a wonderful job at making the universe one where all of the side characters also mean something to the storyline.
