Option 1
9. Small town
Read a book set in a small town
For location/setting tasks, the book does not have to be solely set in that location; it simply needs at least one scene set there.
The usual precise, main page, tag or list will need to be provided to show how the book qualifies.
In this case, it will likely be in the precis, on a list or tagged 'small town' or similar. 'Cozy mystery' will work since that should be set in a small community.
Please ask if you are not sure.
To insert links (book-link or list/shelf/tag-link) in your posts, please read these instructions in the Q&A thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Option 2
Key date: 24 November 2023
Option 3
Pass
A selection post must be made for whichever option you choose - INCLUDING A PASS
Refer msg 3 in your team thread for formatting of all 3 options.

Yes. A village would fit the requirement of the task :)

The precis just says "town" and there aren't any tags aside from genre, but the author bio starts "Sara Arden is the small town romance pen name of author Saranna DeWylde/Sara Wylde/Sara Lunsford."
I'm not sure that really fits the bill, but I thought I'd ask.

Hi Mary-Megan, there is a work-around to see the tags on books like this that don't have the direct link. If you go to the editions page, in the URL replace 'editions' with 'shelves' and it will take you to the top shelves pages. In this case there is a small town tag on the first page of tags: https://www.goodreads.com/work/shelve...

Thanks Karen! I'm hopeless with these work-arounds. I've added the information into the Q&A posts and the theme post.
Looks like your book is good Mary-Megan :)

Thanks so much. I didn't know this trick. You've been a great help.
Thanks!

* The link to the tracking spreadsheet is in msg 1 of this thread.
I have just finished updating all the teams :)
And here is the link here as well - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
- Please let me know if you can't access it.
* No-one can leave their team (or the game) in the final 2 weeks of the game. The teams going into the final week will be set once the call for week 10 (tomorrow my time) is posted :)
* In week 11, option 2 changes for all teams. If you chose Option 2 in that final week, you must select your book from the team that I detail in that announcement. The teams will be randomly allocated.
* Finally, in week 11 I will not be correcting selection and completion posts. This means that you should all be checking each others posts. A team cannot win until all the posts are correct and completed :)

Thanks Kat - I'll try sharing again... (Its my user ability ~ I'm never sure what I need to open up to make it shareable ;)
Try this link now: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Option 1
12. Glasses / gloves / hat / bag / phone / watch
Read a book with one of these items on the cover.
Sunglasses will count as 'glasses'. Winter gear such as mittens and beanies will work for 'gloves' and 'hat'. 'Bag' will also cover luggage/backpacks.
A clock will NOT work for watch. The items need to be things that may be packed for a holiday or travel.
In the case of 'phone', cell-phones (mobiles) count. I will also allow a handset that you would find in an office/home or a payphone, as these may be used to book holidays, flights, etc.
As proof, please post the edition's bookcover in your selection post that shows the items described above.
Please ask if you are not sure.
Option 2
Key date: 1 December 2023
Option 3
Pass

Wrong thread :)

Icebound by Meredith Trapp

I’d say so.

Or can someone be wearing the dress at the time?

Or can som..."
Either is fine

For 10. Skiing / Winter sports
Read a book set in a winter resort or with winter sports as a feature (eg ice skating, skiing)
I’m thinking of

It is set in the winter resort town of Leavenworth in the North Cascade Mountains in Washington State
Cascades mentioned in blurb, and series on cover
text on page 1 “…winter in the quaint Barvarian resort village of Leavenworth, Washington, always meant snow…”
Not sure if these reasons are sufficient to meet criteria

Icebound by Meredith Trapp

Yes - that's fine :)

Or can som..."
The clothing can either be dressed on the cover model or sitting separate (on a chair etc) or as you have it, floating :)

Hi Sally - you can't use text within the book. I need a shelf, list or the main page of the book on GR to show the qualification.
Unless there's a tag on the shelves or a list that makes it qualifies, I think you need to look for another book :)

No it doesn’t have a tag - will keep looking 😀

Thanks Jane. Thanks Kat as well!

Remember - for the final week:
Option 2 changes. Players will not select from their own team member shelves but from another team's bookshelves. Bearing in mind the different reading preferences, this may be easy or difficult ;)
Option 3 (pass) is not available to use in the final week.
I will not be checking players' selection and completion posts until a team member posts IN THIS THREAD that they have finished all the tasks, particularly week 11. So please check your teamies' posts for any errors to avoid false finishes :)

Ice hockey would I’d say

I think she said earlier it would need to be 'ice-hockey', not just hockey. I will see if I can find that.
ETA: Message #11 of this thread. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Option 1
11. Clothes
Read a book with clothes on the cover.
Clothes can be on a cover model, floating in the air or placed on furniture/floor etc. It must be a clear piece of clothing such as a shirt, pants, skirt, socks, scarf etc. Basically clothing from the neck to the feet excluding shoes/scandals will work.
Hats, shoes, hair-bands, glasses etc do not count.
As proof, please post the edition's bookcover in your selection post that shows the items described above.
Please ask if you are not sure.
Option 2
Key date: 8 December 2023
If you use this option, this week you must select your book from the team shelves immediately below your team in this list. The last team picks from the first team.
9 GR Romance Package Tour
3 Flights of Fiction
11 Wandering Bibliophiles
5 Booking Through the Pages
1 Around a Book in 80 Days
4 Sisterhood of the Travelling Books
12 Travelling Through the Pages
10 Double Booked
8 Phuket Let's Go
6 Girls Abroad
7 Passport Pages
2 Two Busy Travelling
Eg. Team 9 picks from team 3's members bookshelves. Team 2 picks from team 9's members bookshelves.
DO NOT PICK from a team member who has left the team during the game. Picks must come from current members. If you aren't sure if they are current, please check on the spreadsheet that is linked in the first message of this thread.
A selection post must be made for whichever option you choose.
Refer msg 3 in your team thread for formatting of all 3 options.

Sorry - ice hockey. Having said that, we play field hockey over here is winter, but it will get too confusing...

If there are issues with any of the current week's posts, the game remains open until a team claims the win WITH everything correct :)

I think she said earlier it would need to be 'ice-hockey', not just hockey. I will see if I can find that.
ETA:..."
Thanks.

I'd say most definitely yes

Yes - that's fine :)

Thanks

HINT: From just a quick look at some of the teams' selection posts, I noted that some book links do not match page numbers. And it needs match the main booklink, not the bookcover (unless there is only a bookcover posted).

Thanks Karen, and good luck teams!

For this challenge you can use any edition for the page count. You just need to be sure the book link you use matches the page count in your selection post.
