So excited! Love the light novels, manga and anime!"

I'm so happy! I love Maomao. I still need to read the light novels, but I'm all caught up on the manga and anime.

It's also good to remember members of this group are among the most voracious of readers, and out there in the real world, many people only read a handful of books a year.

Your opinion seems to be the consensus among my group of friends. I liked it less, but not by much. I still found it mostly compulsively readable and now I just hope it doesn't take YEARS for us to get book 3. However, I want her to have enough time to sharpen up her writing."

I will admit, I was a little sad the next night because I didn't have this book to read at my bedside, so despite all my complaining, I clearly enjoyed the journey.

I ended up typing a lot about the book here so I'm just going to make a book discussion post for this series!

Oh, I am hooked. I had a bit of a hint on the decoding...so probably need more practice. Still I solved it!

PS...I had to remove all games that I was addicted to from my phone also. Spent too much time on them and used up data too fast.

Ron | 2718 comments Yae, discovered a new book today:

Coyote's Swing: A Memoir and Critique of Mental Hygiene in Native America

Hoping to order it this week or next.

Seems I'm going to have my hands busy with Indigenous themes next month since I already have two others lined up:

Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs

An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States

I am with you Nadine. I did not like it nearly as much as Fourth Wing. Was anyone else bothered by so many "more than"s? I wish I had jotted some down. But something like saying I am "more than annoyed" instead of just saying annoyed. It drove me crazy while listening to the audiobook.
I am also hearing this more in regular conversation, so maybe it's just a reflection of the times. But should a book like this include conversational quirks that are a reflection of our times

The Scarlet Letter may be my least favorite book I had to read for school. It's right up there with The Catcher in the Rye and Lord of the Flies.

LOL I did not notice. I think that's one of those things that would jump out at me in an audiobook, but my eye just glides right over it when reading.

Carmen (TheReadingTrashQueen) (thereadingtrashqueen) | 1360 comments Saw someone mention daily games and thought I'd share mine!

Wordle, Framed (guess the movie), Episode (weekly guess the tv show), Metazooa, and Conexo.

Metazooa is by far my favorite!!

Yes I learned about Metazooa from you!!! I tried their other game about plants and it was way too hard - I thought I knew all about plants, but I only know about plants that grow around me, in gardens and natives - I don't know about all those OTHER plants.

Conexo looks a lot like Connections (which, in turn, is a lot like Red Herring)

I know NOTHING about plants. The handful of plants and flowers I know by name is nowhere near enough to get through metaflora, haha!

The beauty of Conexo is endless mistakes allowed! Makes you feel less terrible about not getting it in time! And you can go back and do a bunch of old ones heheh

message 112: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2718 comments I've added another book to my list that sounded interesting:

Decolonizing Therapy: Oppression, Historical Trauma, and Politicizing Your Practice

*****

Now at the moment I am reading a book called Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren't Growing Up . I've heard mixed reviews on this one so I figured I would judge it for myself.

I'm barely on ch. 3, but I'm not sure how I quite feel about it. Normally I can judge a book pretty well early on. I'm still going to give this one a chance though.

message 113: by Teri (new)

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I didn't finish any books this week. Health has been poor and reading took too much concentration (at least I had Ryan Gosling movies to keep me company). Doing better now so hope to get back in the swing of things.

Goodreads: 13/100
Popsugar: 10/50

QOTW:
I struggled to get through The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I started it at least three times before I finished it last year for a GR prompt. It is my best friend's favorite book of all time and a classic I felt should be read. It didn't speak to me, but I'm glad I finally got it done.

Erica | 1266 comments Anyone tried Quordle? (4 wordles at once with the same word guess) I'm not hooked on those daily games anymore but I still do some quordle puzzels every now and then.

I like quordle. Not everyday but weekends and holidays when I have more time. I usually solve them

message 116: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2718 comments Checked my reading stats. 90% of what I've read this year has been non-fiction! So proud of that number given that my goal is 80% or above.

Well THAT sent me down a rabbit hole of games! I googled and there seem to be many quordles? I chose the Merriam Webster one, which then suggested a bunch of other games to me, and that was about an hour ago LOL

message 118: by Ron (new)

Ron | 2718 comments I was bummed with my latest read. I read Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren't Growing Up

(view spoiler)

I went into this book without any knowledge of the author and her values. I also went in based on the title alone without doing further research on her topic. Wish I had known all of that before hand.

This ended up being a 2-star for me.

Ron | 2718 comments Excellent the paperback of The Road to Roswell was released today. I ordered it and it should be arriving tomorrow!

Even though I have it in hardback, this is one book that I really wanted in PB. It will most likely be a book I read come May in early summer.
