Also I assumed Evan recognized the other Orphans in this book because of their similar actions to his, same training and all that. (hide spoiler)]

Evan asked what they would do when they get to Z and Jack said probably go to numbers. I guess they could have gone with greek letters instead of numbers? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Okay so now when I have read forward I understood why Nirkatze's comment was confusing: the contact to other orphan actually happened after that chapter (19).

I am enjoying this so much more now when we got more information about Evan's past. It's easier to understand what kind of person he is and what's going on.
There has happened so much: he's not working for the government anymore and all those orphans are free to do whatever they fancy. Scaring thought! Especially because clearly not every one of them have as strong moral compass as Evan.
Things has gone CRAZY: first it wasn't clear if Katrin was trustworthy, then it was too late when we got the answer to that. And Evan has not one but TWO orphans who are trying to get him killed. This is so thrilling. And who has hired those orphans?!
I can't wait to see if he can save Katrin! But it seems like Mia has been threatened too. I just hope it has nothing to do with Orphan V or O.
Orphan O and V are propably lying when they said that Katrin's father would still be alive. That would be nice, but I don't trust them.

Or then those injuries weren't that fatal / someone saved him and the shot Evan heard was just a hoax. But at least Evan thinks he's dead and that's why he sees those nightmares. (hide spoiler)]

This series is honestly amazing... much more depth than Gray Man, I think, as much as I love Gray Man, my other yearly thriller BR...

Evan has much more interesting moral growth throughout the series... book 4-5 is bonkers... books 6-9 are varying levels of interesting developments and bonkers, and I'm eagerly awaiting number 10 next year after the emotional hook/cliffhanger at the end of book 9...

Finished and loved it! I am glad it is set up for a long and intense follow up, and the danger temperature is only going to go up from here in out! (view spoiler)[ At one point there were so many things going on, it was making my anxiety sky High! But what was interesting was that usually, in the books we read, even separate incidents seem to lead to one destination, while here they were actually separate....

Mia doesn't bother me at all. She is way over her head and is in a very overwhelming situation, which is also making her self absorbed, so she doesn't realize that she comes off like she doesn't care about others' feelings... It's funny, because she reads like an East Coast character, but the action is in LA...

I felt pity for Catherine, but that was about the right ending for her. She should have trusted him, supposedly being so good at reading people, and she elected to go with the betrayal anyway... I am glad her daughter is going to be ok

I am very intrigued by Jack being alive and what is his role in the hunt for Evan... And I really hope there are orphans out there who might be on his side... (hide spoiler)]

I really enjoyed the pacing in this book--lots of action, but also just wanting to know what was going to happen next, or what had happened... good curiosity build.
