Aereya | 2 comments WTF!!!
I did Not see that coming!
Ok Kelsier died in the first book, but it was his own choice so I was able to cope with that - However I did not expect Sanderson to turn around and George R. R. Martin me at the last second...That was harsh!

Elend's decapitation had me staring blankly in disbelief for several seconds before I grabbed the closest pillow and started whacking the couch violently while muttering curses and various forms of "how dare you!?"

Then Vin died...I was too frustrated to utter a word so I gritted my teeth and continued reading, trying to see through the tears.

And then came the Sazed revelation, finally I understood why his quest for the ultimate religion had gotten such a big part of the story, why the Hero was described in gender neutral terms...how did I not see that coming? It was amazing! It all fit together so perfectly, I love how he was the only one who could fix the world.

When the survivors found the bodies of Vin and Elend I was equal parts excited and afraid. Part of me wanted everything to be okey, wanted them to stand up and live the life together they deserved - because I'm a sucker for "and then they lived happily ever after". Another part of me is really tired of the Then-they-died-but-not-really-twist and was a little relieved albeit sad that they remained unmoving. I think I agree with Sanderson on this one, bringing them back would not feel right.

So yeah, the ending of this book was a bittersweet sobfest, I absolutely loved it.

Not sure how I'm gonna be able to pace myself to one Sanderson book/month...I'll give it my best shot.

This was my favorite of the series by FAR. Loved the ending. It was great the way everything came together, the way Sazed's knowledge of religions paid off, the final battle. Wonderful ending to a great series!

My main problem now is trying to wait to read Alloy of Law. :)

Shelleen Toland OMG I had gotten bored through the middle of the book and then couldn't put it down again. Vin and Eland dead? I thought I was going to cry. How could they end this way? The ending was mind blowing and awesome!

Elad Bannett | 11 comments Wow! This book and the whole series has been just amazing! I was really invested in it the whole time, even if it was a bit slow in Well of Ascension.
One thing I just realized now while looking at the posts was that Vin and Elend's deaths were kind of glanced over and not given the proper attention. I read the book a couple months ago, but I only remembered now that they had died. I think that the big, epic ending overshadowed their deaths and I would have liked it if Sanderson would have spent a little more time on them.

Warda (wsharif) Lord Ruler!!!!!!!!

This book. This trilogy. I can't form words right now but jeez, the ending. THE ENDING!

I loved the chapter before the epilogue that talked a bit about Vin. So beautiful!

I can't fathom how Brandon Sanderson was able to craft such a story. This series will stay with me the same way Harry Potter has.

I don't know what else to say.. Still processing what I've read. Love!!!!

Skye (skyepieonthefly) What was that?!?!!?! That was perfect but it has also broken a part of me. How did he make everything line up so perfectly? So much planning must have gone into this series!

I loved everything. I think ending was exactly what was needed. My biggest fear was that Elend and Vin would be separated, thank goodness they both are gone (sounds harsh but hopefully you know what I mean). Though so many tears about Elend's death. Sazed is the perfect God, and the fact that he left everything for Spook. Heart melted.

Love love love love love love love this series, it's perfect in my mind.

Raquel V (raquelvcc) | 33 comments Foolish me, trying to understand halfway through the GENIOUS that is Brandon Sanderson! Even the things I did guess, I couldn't fathom. This was perfect, perfect! It sounds wierd, but even all the deaths were perfect. I just love feeling like this after a book. Like I want to tell the world about it.

Jiten | 2 comments I think a lot of people including myself were shocked by the ending, but it was turly the perfect ending to the trilogy.

Now the long wait for my reread of Alloy of law

message 11: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (infiniteink) This was the perfect ending. I didn't see any of it coming, but it made sense, and you can see Sanderson building up to it throughout the series. I'm incredibly impressed by his writing.

Todd Jackson | 7 comments I finished the book about a month ago but I still get the chills from reading the ending. It was the perfect way to tie everything together. I was really surprised at how Brandon was just like," Oh you think Elend will survive and kill Marsh, NOPE!!"

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Took me long enough to finish reading the book, but good lord I cried when I read Elend's fate. I was actually kinda expecting Vin to sort of "transcend", and I was initially shocked when Elend was beheaded. But then Vin said something along the lines of "I lost Elend in the Well of Ascension, Allomancy only gave us a bit more time together", that's when I was sobbing grossly.
Nevertheless, the ending was beautiful and I can't wait to read Alloy of Law!

Amy C (amy_c_books) | 9 comments I still don't know how I feel about the ending. I don't know... Was it genius how it all came together, how Sanderson weaved this eloquent story, YES! Was I blown away by the world building, the character development, the story arch and all that goes into writing...absolutely. Am I satisfied with the ending, NO! I feel slightly let down, with all the work it took to get to the moment it just fell...slightly flat for me. I enjoyed the whole series and Sanderson is an amazing writer and story teller. I am glad I picked these books up.
