i'm currently reading
Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America and plan to read these three books soon:
The Middlesteins,
Delicate Edible Birds and Other Stories
Hausfrau.
I'm halfway through Ragged Company, which is different for me, but engrossing. I'm also reading Almost Famous Women: Stories.
I've got The First Bad Man going on audio, and will follow that with Hausfrau, also on audio, as recommended by Ann on BOTNS.
I am listening to Skippy Dies
, reading the hardback Brown Girl Dreaming
, and reading the ebook When Will There Be Good News.
I am reading Jodi Picoult's Leaving Time Leaving Time and listening to Where'd You Go Bernadette Where'd You Go, Bernadette
Working on Soldier Girls: The Battles of Three Women at Home and at War as my nonfiction read and Never Let Me Go as my fiction read.
For anyone in the Morristown, NJ area.....Kimberly McCreight (Reconstructing Amelia and Where They Found Her) is speaking on 4/23 at 7 pm at the Morristown Library. I'm really hoping I can get out of work on time to see her!
I'm having a hard time reading right now and have (sort of) abandoned three different non-fiction titles, all on topics I love (jazz and New Orleans.) I started Delicious Foods and that seems to be going better but I haven't had any real time to read.
This month i am currently reading The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (which is appropriately pulpy after A Little Life. Hoping to audiobook Find Me too.
I just finished reading the real James Harriet by Jim White. It was a fantastic book. I have now started beyond the cliff of Carrie by Amanda Hughes. I think I'm really going to enjoy it.
I'm reading The Butterfly Crest by Eva Vanrell. An interesting novel set in New Orleans and Kyoto, Japan.Marion
I have just finished Aphrodite which was a light read I picked up from my shelf which turned out to be a really good thriller. Now I have started The Golem and the Jinni which I am liking so far.
I finished listening to Skippy Dies and generously gave it two stars. I cannot believe I spent all that time listening to it. Waste of time!I loved Brown Girl Dreaming and When Will There Be Good News. Both had beautiful writing and great stories.
I am now listening to Mudbound by Hilary Jordan, reading the hardback Too Many Murders by Colleen McCullough, and reading the e-book Black Echo, which is the first of the Harry Bosch stories.
I started Jane Eyre a few days ago. I started it in high school and just couldn't get into it, so I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. I'm just over 100 pages in and can't wait to read more.

I just finished reading beyond the cliffs of Carrie by Amanda Hughes. It was a very enjoyable book. I am now getting ready to start wishing on butter cups. This book is by Marilee Farrell. I believe it will be a Nother very enjoyable read.
I am reading for bookclub:Under the Wide and Starry Sky
And listening to:
The Brief History of the Dead
I feel like this book should come with an amenity kit: box of tissues, bottle of scotch, etc. Good luck!Karen wrote: "I just started

I've got several books going on for the month of April. Right now, I'm focusing on Wolf Hall
, Bobcat and Other Stories
, and Everything I Never Told You
. I'm currently listening to The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History
as my audio. My graphic novel this week is Batgirl, Vol. 1: The Darkest Reflection

Weird but romantic Rochester. St John who needs a face punch.

I was intrigued when Michael talked about The Last Policeman so I decided to give it a try. I love it! Thanks Michael!
Since April 1st, i finished the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series and now i started with the first book of the sequel "Heroes of Olympus". After that i haven't decided yet.

This month I'm listening to "We Were Liars," reading "Fever" and reading "Beautiful Ruins" for my book club. Beautiful Ruins is fantastic!
I just started Preparation for the Next Life and am so excited about it. Some of my favorite authors, including Emily St. John Mandel, were tweeting its praises the morning it won the PEN / Faulkner award, and it sounds like it will be a stand-out read. I finished The First Bad Man this morning, which I mostly enjoyed, although the middle left me cold. I love the way Miranda July thinks and her writing is uniquely hilarious and insightful in a quirky way.
I'm about half-way through Almost Famous Women: Stories and have really enjoyed the five stories I've read so far.
I just finished Black Echo by Michael Connelly which is the first Harry Bosch book. A good read if you like hard boiled detective novels. I haven't read Harry Bosch before but have seen some of the Amazon shows. Not sure if I'll read them all but will try at least one more.

Susanne wrote: "Beautiful Ruins is really good on audio ... the narrator is fantastic!"Thanks for letting me know that, do you happen to know who the narrator is? :)
Now reading "Bridge of Sighs" and really liking it. BUT Russo could have cut it by 100 pp. or so. Loved the detailed characterizations but a little too much backstory on some (Sarah). Anyone agree?
I've just finished Born Free: The Story of Elsa and I'm starting The Fault in our Stars as my fiction choice and Mindfulness Made Easy as my non-fiction choice, all on audiobook. The writing style for Born Free was not exciting enough to hold my attention very easily.
Linda wrote: "Going to be starting Brown Girl Dreaming on audio."Linda, I loved the book, Brown Girl Dreaming. The language was so beautiful and precise. The audiobook should be amazing!
I'm reading Conversations with Carl Sagan and rereading Martian Time-Slip... In a sci-fi mood I guess.
