Cats
Bombers
Demons

Crows x 20
Dogs
Hawks
Eagles
Suns (have to prove they can win away - they haven't yet)

Adelaide Crows (on hiatus) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
2.4.16 (Q1) 3.4.22
5.6.36 (Q2) 5.5.35
7.8.50 (Q3) 11.6.72
10.11.71 (Q4) 12.7.79
Suzy - the drug test kit is in the mail! The only one who picked the Tigers AND she was only one point off in the margin. $7.00 goes to Friends With Dignity.

Tonight's result:
Western Bulldogs (on hiatus) v Brisbane Lions (on hiatus)
4.0.24 (Q1) 4.3.27

8.7.55 (Q3) 13.9.87
10.11.71 (Q4) 17.12.114

The Lions tall forwards couldn't score or take any marks for their lives this season and now dominating. Must be because I have moved to Brisbane.

Hawthorn Hawks (available) v GWS Giants (Duke)
1.3.9 (Q1) 2.1.13
2.7.19 (Q2) 6.2.38
8.9.57 (Q3) 8.6.54

1.4.10 (Q1) 0.1.1

St Kilda Saints (Tim) v Gold Coast Suns (Suzy)
3.1.19 (Q1) 1.1.7
4.5.29 (Q2) 2.3.15
6.7.43 (Q3) 5.5.35
7.9.51 (Q4) 7.6.48
Yes, those results are correct and guess who's sitting on four out of five??? She would have got the Saints too if she'd stuck with the underdogs.
I didn't see any footy today. I was at the Melbourne Theatre Company's "Julia", a play about our one and only woman Prime Minister. It was a tour-de-force by actress Justine Clarke, the only actor, on stage for 85 minutes and talking non-stop - rapidly changing between the Welsh accents of Julia's parents, her own voice, and Julia Gillard's rather deep and slow resounding voice. Plus she did an amazing personification of Opposition leader, Tony Abbott, just with facial movements and hands on hips. It ended with her famous speech ".... I will not be lectured about sexism and misogyny by this man. I will not. And the Government will not be lectured about sexism and misogyny by this man. Not
now, not ever...." At the end the large audience spontaneously stood up cheering - I wasn't sure if we were cheering Justine Clarke or Julia Gillard. The play has had great reviews and has already been extended into mid-July.
Not that I think I missed much at the footy, although it would have been nice to hear North Melbourne sing their song. How did the Eagles manage 17 behinds?? Is it a case of no Harley Reid, no Eagles?? And the low scoring at the Saints/Suns game must have been rather boring.

Sydney Swans (Anita) v Geelong Cats (available)
0.3.3 (Q1) 5.2.32
5.6.36 (Q2) 6.5.41
9.13.67 (Q3) 8.8.56
16.16.112 (Q4) 12.10.82
Essendon Bombers (Val) v Carlton Blues (available)
1.5.11 (Q1) 4.3.27
3.7.25 (Q2) 9.3.57
6.13.49 (Q3) 10.4.64
9.16.70 (Q4) 15.6.96
I didn't see the earlier game but the Swans must have had a shock when the Cats bolted out of the gates. Essendon's 16 behinds didn't affect the result - Carlton were the better team right across the ground.

Saturdays games were awful and the standard between top and bottom is startling. Certainly no Eagles if Reid is not playing. On the plus side for the matches on Saturday they all had an exciting close finish.
The Swans really struggled to get going and were still in bye mode. Longmire didn't go mad at them at quarter time although he had every reason to. He just spoke very respectfully and the message and slight tweaks in tactics paid off gradually through the second quarter. The Cats did not have the time or space of the first quarter. However by half time deficit reduced to 5 after Tommy Papley's double in a minute which brought the house down. Not everyone's favourite player outside of the Swans for sure.
Second half Swans in total control apart from a dodgy 5 minutes about 10 minutes from the end when conceding 3 quick goals but they remained calm and scored3 quick ones themselves in return.
Sorry the Bombers lost last night.

See the Collingwood fans are up to their tricks again booing certain players and all the opposition when kicking for goal. They have no idea how disgraceful this is. I hated going to their matches.

Today's result:
Collingwood Magpies (on hiatus) v Melbourne Demons (on hiatus)
3.1.19 (Q1) 0.4.4
7.3.45 (Q2) 2.6.18
11.3.69 (Q3) 4.11.35
14.5.89 (Q4) 6.15.51
It didn't seem a very inspiring game what I saw of it. Sorry to see Christian Petracca injured. Hope it's not too bad. It was great to see a sea of blue Freeze beanies in the outer. The traditional Pies/Dees game on the Monarch's Birthday long weekend celebrates former Bombers player and Demons coach, Neil Daniher, who is battling Motor Neurone Disease. His FightMND foundation has donated A$97 million to MND research over the last ten years - mainly from the sale of the beanies.

It's not so much home advantage. In this case it's temperature - AFL is a winter game and though that means it is also winter in the Northern Territory, it's still a bit warmer than Melbourne.
