Does that mean it can't be used?

That's a curveball I didn't see coming! Let me check with the other mods and get back to you, moderating with regards to specific editions could pose a thorny problem.

This is on my shelf at home The Confusions of Young Törless, and even the first search comes up with another Penguin Classics edition, but not on the list. I would even say half the Penguin Classics I just pulled of a single shelf are not on the list ...
(I do have one I am going to use, not my first choice, but still something I need to knock off.)

Up to the mods, of course.

Jayne - i think the problem is that the wiki list isn't complete (and anyone could edit it and change it up) - happy to go with that if that is the decision - but like others I found multiple books on my shelf that were penguin classics, not on the list

Hang tight, folks, we're getting the wording figured out. Pretty sure there is a way to make this make sense somehow despite the somewhat heavily abridged Wiki list. It probably won't be the Penguin site itself - I've tested the search function and it fires back results that clearly aren't in the Penguin Classics range, but there is most likely another workaround.

Sorry, this doesn't work since the author listed on the GR record doesn't match!

Task wording updated, hopefully this allows for those obviously Penguin books where the pesky list doesn't have an entry for them!
To use Apple's case as an example, you would link both The Confusions of Young Törless (as the read edition) and The Confusions of Young Törless (as the edition with Penguin Classics in the metadata).
The stipulation that "Penguin Classics" must be in the metadata is to distinguish from non-classics that are published under the Penguin name alone - otherwise we'd be getting claims for books such as The World According to Clarkson, which don't really fit!

The Penguin Book of Murder Mysteries is published by Penguin Classics."
Yes, that's acceptable. There are other anthologies on the Wiki list, and in your case Penguin Classics is clearly in the publisher metadata.

That's... an odd Goodreads page. Theoretically, yes, it works, but you'd need to get someone in the Librarian Thread to correct the entry and merge it with the main Alice's Adventures in Wonderland entry so it registers as an edition of Alice rather than a separate book.
Since Alice also has the MPG Childrens, do also check to make sure it passes the default SRC rules for childrens' books.

I've found A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens to read instead x

A Midsummer Night’s Dream -- the is the version that comes up when sorted by MMPB, so I would post this one, as well as this audiobook, the one I plan to listen to. A Midsummer Night's Dream I can't find in using the add book function, I have to link the page.
THis book is on the list, so I think it is okay. My concern is the poetry MPG -- does this meet all of the groups standards as well as work for this task?

You're good to go, don't worry.
Poetry MPG shouldn't be an issue - the MMPB is well over the minimum page threshold. The only time poetry would potentially cause a mod a headache is if you're using the rule to combine two poetry books for one task in order to meet page count.

April 25th is World Penguin Day, and while we all love our flightless black-and-white friends, as readers we're perhaps more likely to celebrate Penguin, the publishing house well known for its extensive collection of classic works.
Read a book that has been published as a Penguin Classic according to this Wiki list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... OR where a Penguin Classics edition of the book exists on Goodreads.
The edition you read does not need to be a Penguin edition.
Required: If your book does not appear on the Wiki list, provide a link to the GR page for the Penguin Classics edition. This must show Penguin Classics in the publisher metadata.
