MG/ YA book. A girl whose name is either Lois or Lillian and her initials are L.I.P. She has a single mom who has started dating a nice man. I *think the title has “Beautiful” in it. Read around 1985-1988.

She is overweight and pimply and wears the same outfit all the time—a skirt and oversized sweatshirt because she can pull it down over her bottom. A nice teacher helps her learn how to wear makeup, take care of her slime, and eat right.There might be another character named Marilyn Christensen in it but that could be completely wrong. And I think her mom’s boyfriend calls her Lois (or Lillian) the Lion because of her hair. In addition, she doesn’t do well in school but her grades start to rise and she begins to lose weight but her mother doesn’t notice till she sees her report card.

I read this book around 1985-88.
