Cory Rodriguez | 9 comments I imagine the book is 1990-2000s. I'm not exactly sure because I found it in an old bookstore. It's aimed about 9-13 I think. I don't recall any pictures being in the book. Maybe there was one or two.

Essentially, a girl finds a ball of green muck. It turns out to be a dog. She takes it home, washes it with her mother's fancy shampoos, but can't get all the sticks out so she cuts its fur. When it is finally clean, it is a weird, gross shade of green. She posts flyers around town. I don't exactly remember the middle half, but I do remember that at the end, the dog was discovered to be a show dog that had run away. A maltese maybe. Something small, white, and fluffy that looks a little like a mop. I think the girl ends up keeping the dog.

The cover has the girl holding the dog away from her, wrinkling her nose. The dog is the green ball of muck, with sticks poking out. I think it was yellow.

Thank you!

Cory Rodriguez | 9 comments Yes, I know. I figure it is not a well known book or well popular.

Cory, are you still looking for this or did you find it?

Cory Rodriguez | 9 comments Never found it, unfortunately. I’m bummed because I remember the cover clearly. The dog was green, with sticks, and the girl was grossed out.
